Local Shows, It's a very good weekend.

La Plebe and The Bar Feeders, Saturday @ El Rio. $8-$20. 4 p.m.

(early show - Benefit for the San Francisco Tenants Union)

La Plebe is punk rock with horns. They're a bilingual viral infection who make every show a party to remember. The Bar Feeders are San Francisco's premiere drunk punks. If you haven't seen either of these bands, you're not from San Francisco. Get to this amazing gig.

Hasta la muerte.

Foxtails Brigade, Sunday @ Cafe du Nord. $10. 8 p.m.

Beautiful strings. Beautiful women. Foxtails Brigade are two ladies who pluck their vocals and belt out the strings. Their so good, they'll mix ya up a bit. Side note, they are part of The Ding String Trio who back up Uni and her Ukelele.

Have fiddle, will travel.

Gris Gris, Friday @ Great American Music Hall. $16. 9 p.m.

From groovy ditties to experimental assaults, Gris Gris has been perfecting their sound for many years. Think Velvet Underground, but if they were hitting their peak in 2010.

Barbara Manning & The Sleaze Tax, Saturday @ Hemlock. $7. 9:30 p.m.

San Francisco musician Barbara Manning is famous for many of her bands including World of Pooh and SF Seals. She was the queen of heavy rotation on local college radio in the '90s and now hosts her own radio show in Chico. Check out her new project.

Somebody likes her local baseball history.

American Steel, Friday @ Bottom of the Hill.

Signature guitar riffs and easy listening vocals will fill any need you have for classic rock. They sound like a boy band with metal influences. Hell, we all have our guilty pleasures. If I didn't have my own gig tonight, I'd have my lighter in the air for American Steel.

It ain't Night Ranger but at least they're not collecting Social Security checks.
