Flu forces Billy Joel to axe gigs

Last Updated: Sunday, July 26, 2009 | 12:50 PM ET

Billy Joel and Elton John have been forced to postpone their joint concert on Monday in Albany, N.Y., because Joel is ill with the flu.

It will be the second show the stars have bowed out of in the past few days. They skipped their scheduled Friday performance at Buffalo's HSBC Arena when Joel, 60, was told by his doctors to rest for the next 72 hours after coming down with flu-like symptoms and extreme fatigue.

Their Face 2 Face show has been touring for two months, selling out arenas in the U.S. They plan to travel the world playing together on and off for at least two years.

Fans with tickets to the Albany and Buffalo shows are advised by concert promoter Live Nation to hold onto their tickets until arrangements can be made for make-up shows.

Details on rescheduling are expected to be announced this coming week.
