Sailboats at Blue Marsh Lake


  Hours

Hours of operation are posted at the entrances to all developed areas. Remote areas are open sunrise to sunset or as posted. Authorized recreational activities - hiking, hunting, fishing, boating - are permitted 24 hours a day. No loitering is allowed.



  Fees

Facility use fees are charged at the Dry Brooks Day Use Area, and the Dry Brooks and State Hill Ramps May 1 - September 30.



  Motor Vehicles

Vehicles shall be parked in accordance with posted restrictions and regulations, and shall not impede traffic, or block gates and roadways.



  Boating

Boaters are subject to Pa. Fish and Boat Commission regulations and U.S. Coast Guard safety requirements. Overnight occupancy in a vessel is only permitted if actively fishing or boating. Inflatable boats must be at least seven feet long, be made of durable fabric, and have at least two buoyancy chambers. All other inflatables are prohibited, except if they are manufactured and used as skiing devices.



  Swimming

Swimming, wading, snorkeling or scuba diving at one's own risk is permitted, except at launching sites, boat beaches, public docks and other posted sites, and only between sunrise and sunset.  Only Coast Guard approved personal flotation devices are permitted as swimming aids. Diving, jumping, swinging from trees, bridges or other structures, which cross or are adjacent to project waters is prohibited.



  Water Sports

Parasails and ski-kites are prohibited at Blue Marsh Lake. Water skiing is permitted from sunrise to sunset. Each boat is limited to one skier at a time, and that skier must wear a Coast Guard-approved personal flotation device (PFD). Also, the boat operator must be accompanied by a competent observer.



  Hunting, fishing and trapping

Hunting, fishing and trapping are permitted in season according to applicable Federal, State and local laws, except in posted areas.




  Camping

There is no camping allowed at Blue Marsh Lake.



  Fires

Fires shall be confined to grills, fireplaces, stoves and other facilities designed for that purpose, and only in developed areas where ash pits are provided. Fires shall not be left unattended and must be extinguished prior to departure.



  Explosives, Firearms

The possession of loaded firearms, ammunition, loaded projectile firing devices, bows and arrows, crossbows or other weapons is prohibited, except where used for hunting and fishing in remote areas, and in accordance with State Game and Fish regulations.  Possession and/or use of fireworks or explosives of any kind is prohibited.



  Alcohol

Possession and/or consumption of alcoholic beverages is prohibited.




  Pets

Pets must be penned, caged or on a leash less than six feet long in developed areas, except where otherwise posted. No pets are allowed at the swimming beach or in adjacent picnic areas (below parking lot F). Horseback riding is not allowed in developed recreation areas.
