Directions to Blue Marsh Lake

  From Philadelphia and points east:

  • Take U.S. 422 west PAST Reading.
  • As you approach the interchange between routes 422 and 222, stay in the left lanes and continue north, which changes to U.S. 222 Northbound (heading toward Allentown).
  • After passing the "Spring Ridge Exit" take the next exit for Pa. Route 183 and Reading Airport. At the end of the exit ramp, turn left onto Rt. 183 North and continue about 3 miles to the left turn at Bern Church onto Palisades Drive. Follow Palisades Drive south to the park entrances and the Visitors Center.


  From Harrisburg and points west:

  • Take I-78 East to Exit 7 (Strausstown/183).
  • Turn right, take Pa. Route 183 south through Bernville and Mt. Pleasant.
  • About 1 and 1/2 miles south of Mt. Pleasant, turn right at the intersection with Palisades Drive (look for the red-brick Bern Church, along with a brown-and-white directional sign for Blue Marsh Lake).
  • On Palisades Drive, go about 1 mile to the first park entranceon the right, for the Day Use Area.
  • Further down Palisades Drive on the right, at approximate 1/4-mile intervals, are entrances  for the Dry Brooks Boat Launch, Visitor Center and Stilling Basin.


  From Allentown and points north:

  • Take U.S. 222 South towards Reading.
  • After passing the intersection of Pa. Route 73 (Blandon), take the exit for Sinking Spring. This is the U.S. 222 By-Pass around Reading.
  • Get off at the exit for Reading Airport and Pa. Route 183.
  • At the end of the exit ramp, turn right onto 183 North.
  • Go about 3 miles to the intersection with Palisades Drive (look for the red-brick Bern Church, along with a brown-and-white directional sign for Blue Marsh Lake).
  • Turn left onto Palisades Drive, go about 1 mile to the first park entrance on the right, for the Day Use Area.
  • Further down Palisades Drive on the right, at approximate 1/4-mile intervals, are entrances  for the Dry Brooks Boat Launch, Visitor Center and Stilling Basin.
