For several years, business travelers have been experiencing a great deal of frustration and dissatisfaction.

... We felt that it is unbelievable that two travelers end up paying two different rates at the same hotel for similar rooms on the same day.

... We found it to be crazy that a traveler pays different rates for the same hotel, depending upon the season.

... We found it to be even crazier that the travel websites, such as Orbitz for Business, Expedia (Egencia), Hotels.com , American Express Travel Service that ?claim? low prices for hotel rooms are in actuality, not offering the low prices, at all times.

... We felt it was a shame that business travelers would reserved a room at a so called ?4-Star? hotel, and end up staying in a "2-Star" quality room?

... In talking with our customers and industry professionals, we also realized that there is a strong void of knowledge, time and resources to search for the best rates at quality hotels.(We also realized that even with the advent of Kayak), business travelers don't have the ability to search and procure rooms at the lowest possible rates, regardless of the season across the nation).

WE FOUND THIS TO BE UNFAIR AND UNACCEPTABLE. So, in Spring 2007, a handful of us embarked upon a journey to discover a solution that would enable business travelers to book quality hotel rooms, at one low rate, the same rate, regardless of season. Hence, we launched www.OneRoomRate.com .

Expedia Launches New Business Travel Page
As I have some experience with these new products, I have a few corrections:

1. "New products are in the pipeline, including food container companies offering corn- and sugar cane-based products designed to disintegrate in hot water."

These products are not "designed" to disintegrate in hot water; they are designed to break down to their natural state in a commercial compost facility. Corn plastic (or PLA) does have a heat tolerance of about 135 degrees or so. From everything I've seen, the companies that make these products are quite clear about what uses they recommend for certain products, and most of the time it states it right on the actual product.

2. "most of these products are manufactured in China. This is the same China, Bill Baker points out, where quality control is almost non-existent and produced consumer horrors."

Actually, many of the companies that make these products do manufacture some or all of their products domestically. Even so, if quality control in China was truly "non-existent" this whole country would probably be falling apart before our eyes, starting with the clothes on your back, moving to the cell phone in your pocket, and ending with the television in your living room. I'm sure these companies, just like all others, have quality assurance procedures in place to limit defects.

3. "The legal liability of businesses that have to serve foods in the weak, often leaking containers that could be hazardous to the health of people ingesting food and drinks from these containers,"

This is an overstatement as well. While these products, like many new products, have experienced some issues with performance, it is far from a regular event. I would be a lot more worried about the peanut butter you are serving in the cafeteria than the PLA lined cups you are serving your coffee in.

4. "Bruno contends that biodegradable food containers cost two-to-five times more than Styrofoam containers."

From my research, this is simply not true either. I was told this morning that sugarcane food containers are the next price point up from styrofoam. That's pretty amazing considering the fact that stryofoam has been produced for decades, giving manufacturers a huge leg up in the race to keep costs low. Keep in mind that the "cost" of using a non-renewable resource does not currently reflect what future generations will pay for our decision to use products that generate large amounts of greenhouse gases and are destined to reside in a landfill (or on the side of the road) until the end of time.

The Power of Online Data Collection
Most of us feel that sex is better than most of the pleasure things to do around us, but there is a totally different feeling when it comes to doing customer service. If you like doing customer service very much, everytime you come to the job, you have a good mindset and feel better on that day, and so i would say, yes sometimes customer service can be better than having sex.

Is Customer Service Better than Sex?
Hi Lori,
Most of the sales guys I know using Twitter are doing it by sharing info on their industry and then have a good profile page that talks briefly about their company and its solution. I have a bunch of sales types following me on Twitter and they often post interesting articles that catch my attention. At least one of them has done a decent job and I've then gone on to watch his web demo for his product.
