LONDON, GREATER - London W7, Hanwell, Kings Arms National Inventory of Historic Pub Interiors Part One 110 Uxbridge Road, London W7, W7 3SU Tel: 020 8567 2370 Listed Status: Not listed This large but basic high street pub was rebuilt in 1930 by brewers Mann, Crossman & Paulin and has changed very little in the intervening three-quarters of a century. The frontage is quite plain and has doors which lead to the various separate rooms inside. On either side there are two rooms, one behind the other and in between them, at the front, a small private bar. On the left the public bar has what is now a games room behind it: the only real change is the loss of double doors between the two. The same layout (and loss of doors) is found on the right but the hierarchical distinction between the two sides is reflected in the greater elaboration of the counter on the saloon side, which is also graced with wall panelling. |
