THE SPOOKSMODEL SPEAKS

Chronicles of a Serial Killer- Part Twelve

SHANNON LARKI love it when the circus comes to town. I automatically resort back to being a child- pushing people younger than me out of the way for a spot in line, riding roller coasters and urinating in outhouses. It brings back such a nostalgic feeling for me. It’s almost as good as sleeping on a dirty mattress in an abandoned crack trailer. Except that experience wasn’t always accompanied with pleasant feelings, so I don’t actively look for it.

Chronicles of a Serial Killer- Part Eleven

SHANNON LARKSo Fangoria’s Weekend of Horrors in Los Angeles came and went. It was a whirlwind. Bouncing back and forth from panels, shows, parties and being generally adored I somehow found time to perch on top of my 25 foot chainsaw and stuff my mouth with nuts (the kind that grow from the earth, dummy) whenever I cruised by my table. In short, it was awesome.

The experience was particularly bitter sweet for me due to judging the 2010 Spooksmodel competition. I couldn’t believe it, these girls were amazing. Besides the 1986 Miss America competition I had never seen women so talented cheer each other on so much! It made my heart swell with pride, and I think I peed a little. It was an honor to help choose the person who was going to represent Fangoria Entertainment, a company that has withstood all adversity to do the one thing it loves: horror.

Chronicles of a Serial Killer - Part Ten

SHANNON - the tattoo...Snow storms encapsulated Middle America last week in an insane rage. It was the perfect moment to take a trip to Oklahoma, where most of the action was happening. So I packed up the car and drove like a madman straight into the heart of it. As I expected, the roads where being shut down, so I found the back roads and hit up the local blood for some fun.

It’s so easy to kill and get away with it in a snow storm. I don’t see why more people don’t do it. The cold isn’t that bad to deal with; you can always get back into your car after you beat someone to a bloody pulp. If it’s falling heavy, the snow will cover the body within 10 minutes and it won’t even be found for 2 days, sometimes longer.

Chronicles of a Serial Killer- Part Nine

SHANNON LARKWhatever happened to just plain fun? When you slaughter every living thing around you just because you can? Whatever happened to abandoning all inhibitions, stripping off your clothes, and diving in?

So much of my life lately has been eaten up by business. Now that Fangoria’s 2010 Spooksmodel contest is underway, I feel personally responsible that these women become successful at killing too, unless they want to do something else in life (though I would have no idea why). I’m beginning to wonder if this is how I will always feel: like I’ve birthed a generation of Spooksmodels. It’s exhausting. I’m completely parched!

Chronicles of a Serial Killer- Part Eight

barbara_tattooI got home from Fangoria’s Weekend of Horrors in Chicago to absolute, inappropriate disaster. Not only did someone ransack my house, but my dog got into my personal stash of leftover limbs, gorging himself and proceeding to vomit everywhere.
