Albania’s Ruling Party Leads Poll

Albania's ruling Democratic Party is ahead of the opposition Socialists according to a poll conducted by Zogby International for broadcaster Top Channel TV.

Ten days ahead of the election, 40% of those polled said they would vote for the Democrats, 38% for the Socialists (PD), 4% for the Socialist Movement for Integration (LSI), and 2% for the G99 party. Some 8% were undecided, while 2% refused to reveal their preference.  

The poll has a margin of error of 3.2%.

Socialist leader Edi Rama polled an approval rating of 46&, while Prime Minister Sali Berisha an approval of 45%.

According to the poll, 79% of the people interviewed voted in the last election and another 76% believed their vote would have an impact.

66% of Albanians ranked employment as their greatest concern. The economy came in at 60%, poverty at 40%, followed by corruption at 22%.

Zogby International has conducted a series of polls for Top Channel every month leading up to the general elections on June 28.
