RIP ILSA director Don Edmonds

edmondsobitthumbIt was with great sadness that this Fango contributor learned of the passing of Don Edmonds. You see, ever since I had the pleasure of meeting Don in 2003 (through another Fango writer, Paul Gaita), I have been humbled and honored to call him a friend. Having encountered ILSA, SHE WOLF OF THE S.S. as a 19-year-old at university in Stirling, Scotland (it was banned in the UK at that time and remains in limbo to this day), I remember being shocked silly by the movie—and eager to find out who on Earth would have made such a thing! Luckily for me, the gentleman behind ILSA was a gentle, humble and very, very funny soul who was filled with great stories.

RIP TEXAS CHAINSAW 2’s Lou Perryman

RIP Andy Hallett (1975-2009)

Andy HallettSome sad news just came in, as Fango has learned that actor Andy Hallett has passed away. Hallett, best known to FANGORIA readers as Lorne, the green-skinned demon often referred to as The Host on the long-running series ANGEL, died last night after a five-year battle with heart disease.

RIP Ron Silver (1946-2009)

Ron SilverSad news tonight for FANGORIA and STARLOG readers, as Variety reports that actor Ron Silver has died. The recognizable actor first touched on the horror genre with the 1981 film THE ENTITY, and continued appearing in genre fare steadily for the rest of his career, amassing a list that includes THE WISHER, TIMECOP, THE ARRIVAL, BLUE STEEL, SHADOW ZONE: THE UNDEAD EXPRESS, and more.
