TOM DEFEOTHOMAS DEFEO - President, FANGORIA ENTERTAINMENT

Tom is owner of  FANGORIA and THE BROOKLYN COMPANY, INC., the publisher of FANGORIA magazine. Tom's background in television production assists in leading the FANGORIA brand from beyond the printed page and into all facets of media. He has served as Executive Producer for the NEW YORK CITY HALLOWEEN PARADE's televised broadcasts, and was Executive Producer of FUSE's live broadcast of the 2006 FANGORIA CHAINSAW AWARDS.

In the summer of 2008, as head of THE BROOKLYN COMPANY, Thomas acquired FANGORIA and all of it's related brands.

Under new ownership and direction, THE BROOKLYN COMPANY looks forward to bringing readers and viewers the best in horror entertainment for many years to come.

Tony TimponeANTHONY TIMPONE - Editor, FANGORIA MAGAZINE

Tony is the longtime editor FANGORIA magazine.  In fall 2004, Tony served as a producer on Bravo’s five-hour documentary series THE 100 SCARIEST MOVIE MOMENTS. In the early ’90s, Tony helped guide the first three Fango flicks for Columbia TriStar Home Video: MINDWARP (starring Bruce Campbell and Angus Scrimm), CHILDREN OF THE NIGHT (with Karen Black and Ami Dolenz) and SEVERED TIES (with Oliver Reed and Elke Sommer). He currently serves as a producer/interviewer for FANGORIA TV’s SCREAMOGRAPHY program and a consulting producer/recurring guest on FANGORIA RADIO (Sirius Satellite Radio channel 102).


For Koch Vision, Tony co-created and co-produced the FANGORIA BLOOD DRIVE series, a short film search and magazine-format DVD hosted by Rob Zombie. For TV, he was a consulting producer for the nationally syndicated HORROR HALL OF FAME special and served on the award show’s Board of Directors. Tony has also worked as a horror and development consultant to Universal New Media, Vestron Pictures, Media Home Entertainment and others. Additionally, he is the author of MEN, MAKEUP AND MONSTERS (St. Martin’s Press) and edited FANGORIA VAMPIRES, FANGORIA MASTERS OF THE DARK: STEPHEN KING AND CLIVE BARKER (both HarperPrism), FANGORIA’S 100 BEST HORROR FILMS YOU’VE NEVER SEEN (Three Rivers Press) and FANGORIA’S BEST HORROR FILMS (Crescent Books).

Since 1993, Tony has helped program international horror/fantasy festivals in Milan, Italy (Dylan Dog) and Montreal, Canada (Fantasia), as well as Montreal’s Just For Laughs. At New York City’s Two Boots Pioneer Theater, Tony programs and hosts the East Village venue’s monthly Monster Mondays film series. Tony has been a frequent media spokesman for the horror industry, appearing on MTV, NIGHTLINE, GERALDO, ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT, SHOWBIZ TODAY, CBS EVENING NEWS, G4 and many more, as well as numerous documentaries. And fright fans know Tony as the Master of Ceremonies and co-producer of the popular FANGORIA Weekend of Horrors conventions, held in cities across the United States.

 
Michael GingoldMICHAEL GINGOLD - Managing Editor, FANGORIA MAGAZINE

Mike has been the managing editor of FANGORIA magazine since 1990. He has written dozens of articles for the magazine and currently writes several of its monthly sections, including the DVD reviews, as well as contributing reviews to this website. He appears regularly at Fango's Weekend of Horrors conventions and, from 1992-1996, produced the annual Chainsaw Awards ceremonies at the Los Angeles shows. His many other writing credits include reviews for THE MOTION PICTURE GUIDE (a number of which are reprinted on the TV GUIDE website movie database), THE BLOCKBUSTER VIDEO GUIDE and MOVIES ON TV AND VIDEOCASSETTE. For nine years, he wrote and self-published the horror review fanzine SCAREAPHANALIA.

Michael is also a horror screenwriter, having penned a pair of films for director David DeCoteau: Rapid Heart Pictures' LEECHES and Regent Entertainment's RING OF DARKNESS; in addition to writing SHADOW: DEAD RIOT (Media Blasters) and the upcoming THE OCEAN (co-written with Dante Tomaselli). Finally, Michael has appeared as an actor in a number of New York-area indie horror features, including several Kevin Lindenmuth movies, Glen Baisley's FEAR OF THE DARK and THE TENEMENT, as one of two performers playing the title creature in THE SUCKLING and as an extra in the Troma epics TOXIC AVENGER II and III and TROMA'S WAR.

 

James ZahnJAMES ZAHN - Head of New Media, FANGORIA ENTERTAINMENT

James came to FANGORIA in October of 2008 and oversees New Media for the FANGORIA brand, including the daily operations of FANGORIA.com. Along with V.P. Scott Licina, James headed up the redevelopment of Fango's web presence, and plays a daily role in cultivating new opportunities and building new relationships for the company. In addition, James is also the editor of FANGORIA MUSICK, and writes the comic book series, DEATH WALKS THE STREETS, published by FANGORIA GRAPHIX.

Outside of the Fango realm, James is also a multi-hypenate that works as an actor, writer, filmmaker, editor, and musician. He recently appeared in a Fall 2008 commercial campaign for Wendy's, the upcoming indie film LONELY JOE, and his other works have been featured on networks such as G4TV. He was also honored by MySpace with a 2007 nod for "My Emmy", presented by the website and the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.

 
Rebekah McKendryREBEKAH MCKENDRY - Director of Marketing, FANGORIA ENTERTAINMENT

Rebekah has been a lifelong horror addict and FANGORIA reader. She first came to work at FANGORIA in December of 2006 as researcher for the radio show and was soon writing for both the magazine and website. She now heads up the advertising and marketing department for FANGORIA, working to build relations with other companies and spreading the word of FANGORIA throughout the land. Rebekah can also be seen in some of the our online videos as she often covers Fango events, conventions, and concerts.

In addition to her work at FANGORIA, Rebekah is a professor at Hunter College in New York City. With a BA in Film, a MA in Media, and about halfway through a doctorate focused in Horror and Exploitation Films, she teaches classes focused on horror, cult, and exploitation media. She has published numerous works on horror and exploitation film theory and has spoken at many academic conferences on topics ranging from Nun-ploitation to torture porn to women in horror.

MARLA NEWBORNMARLA NEWBORN - Program Content Director, FANGORIA ENTERTAINMENT

Like everyone else in the FANGORIA family, Marla Newborn has been a fright fan ever since she was a little girl growing up in New York City watching Creature Features, Chiller Theatre and all the cool monster and sci fi shows on TV.  In fact, she can practically recite lines from almost every Twilight Zone and Alfred Hitchcock episode ever aired!

Marla joined Fangoria in January 2006, and as a project launch specialist was part of the team behind Fangoria TV. An ace in acquisitions, it's Marla's role to reach out to horror filmmakers from all over the world in order to gather material to show at the FANGORIA's WEEKEND OF HORRORS events and on our online network of websites. Marla's background includes a career at the USA Network and the Sci Fi Channel,  where, beginning in 1992, she helped build the fledging genre outfit both in the United States and in Europe as VP in charge of production and programming.

In addition to her work at FANGORIA, Marla works as an acquisition consultant for an LA based film distributor, is a volunteer at a drug rehab center and is also creating a documentary film about her family.
