I have a Windows Home Server sharing a printer to our network which has a desktop and laptop with Vista Business SP1 and another desktop with XP SP3 Media Center 2002. The server automatically shared the printer when I attached it and the two Vista machines have been able to print without a problem. My issue is whenever the XP machine is restarted (or logs off in any way), its access permissions to the printer on the server are denied. I just removed Vista from a laptop this afternoon, simply because the owner wanted the machine to run faster and with more stability and it had done so with XP. Now, that's not to say that I would never put Vista on any laptop. In fact, I just ordered a Lenovo X61t with Vista, because I like the improved inking capabilities that Vista has for Tablet PC's. However, I did order the machine with 4 GB of memory. In your case, I'd recommend sticking with XP.

Am about to upgrade my PC. I just got Raidmax 630w Modular PSU, and an employee bundle which included Intel Q6700. I'm about to buy the Abit IX38 QuadGT, but I am wondering if I need to reformat my HDD when I do this (as well as back up info on another HDD and DVDRW).
