The Greenlandic Parliament and

the City Council Chamber

- A trip into the political history of Greenland

The Greenlandic way of life and politics has gone through dramatic changes in the past century.  The tour explores The Home Rule Greenland Parliament building, Greenlands political heart, where, you'll visit the chamber.  There, the guide will present the political history of Greenland developing from settling decisions in small communities by shaman & drum-dance to Danish colonialism and home rule government.  Then, we head on further to Nuuk City Council Assembly Hall.  The assembly hall is known for its beautiful tapestries with Inuit motives from the past.  The tapestries were woven from Greenlandic wool dyed with Greenlandic vegetable dyes on the basis of paintings by Hans Lynge, one of the most beloved Greenlandic artists.

This tour gives you the flavour of the Greenlanders change of political-life through out the centuries, their current battle for self-independency and change of their self-consciousness.
