Two Archant Life monthlies saved from frequency change

4 March 2009

Two lifestyle magazines published by regional newspaper group Archant have won a reprieve from a proposal to cut their frequency.

Plans to switch monthly titles Herefordshire Life and Shropshire Life to annual frequency have been scrapped, the publisher has confirmed.

As already reported by Press Gazette, Archant Life is currently reviewing its titles, roles and structure in the light of current economic forecasts and trading conditions.

Archant Life group commercial director, Tim Thurston, who is undertaking the review, said: "Following the consultation on the Midlands titles, I am delighted to announce that we will continue to publish Warwickshire Life, Worcestershire Life, Herefordshire Life and Shropshire Life on a monthly basis.

"Following consultations with staff, we have amended structures and working practices, where economically practicable, allowing us to create a model that is viable and that will not affect the quality of the magazines.

"We have had a tremendous response and support from our marketplace and customers and we will continue to provide beautiful magazine for our readers.

"It is great news and allows us to build on the excellent work done to date in those counties."

It is still proposed that Staffordshire County Magazine and Birmingham Life will revert to a "reduced frequency" of publication.
