Naughty Dog Debuts Co-op And Multiplayer In Among Thieves
4/27/2009 12:32:00 PM
We had the pleasure of giving you the first look at Uncharted 2: Among Thieves in our January issue of Game Informer, but details have been scarce since then. What we did know was that that Among Thieves will give us a chance to explore Nathan Drake’s shadier side, partly due to his new affiliation with Chloe, an international art thief with an aversion to working with legitimate agencies.

But at a recent Sony event in Los Angeles, Naughty Dog broke the silence with more details about the pending title, focusing on the reveal that Among Thieves will include both co-op and multiplayer modes. Read on for the scoop.

NCAA Football TeamBuilder Setting New Benchmark
4/28/2009 2:28:00 PM
One of the more creative options found in EA Sports’ NCAA Football games has always been the create-a-team function, and now NCAA Football 10 aims to make this mode even better with TeamBuilder, which will allow gamers freedom to upload logos and customize their teams straight from their PC or Mac browser.

TeamBuilder is a Web-based create-a-school feature that allows anyone with Internet access to log on to teambuilder.easports.com and create and share teams with the rest of the NCAA Football 10 community. One can import a logo from his or her computer and even pull specific colors from this image to ensure uniforms identically match logo colors, among other new customization options that can be saved and searched online.

Nostalgia Coming to DS September 2009
4/28/2009 12:53:00 PM
Ignition Entertainment and Tecmo are teaming up to bring an old school RPG to the Nintendo DS. As the title suggests, Nostalgia aims to combine everything gamers loved in their classic 8-bit RPGs in a completely new package and original story. Ignition claims that in order to do this Tecmo, “has amassed an all-star dream team of industry veterans to forge a brand new DS adventure that hearkens back to the classic glory days of Japanese role-playing games.”

Burnout Paradise Cops and Robbers DLC Gets Price Tag
4/28/2009 12:32:00 PM
Criterion Games have finally announced the price tag for its upcoming Cops and Robbers DLC, and it seems pretty reasonable. The pack, which is scheduled to be released on Thursday, will cost $10, or 800 Microsoft Points. The pack will add an all new mode in which teams of cops and robbers will compete over piles of gold bars placed randomly in Paradise City, racing to retrieve and return the treasure to their secret hideouts—while no doubt being run off the road by their trash talking rivals. The mode will also add models for different cop cars from around the world, adding to the already impressive roster of vehicles Burnout Paradise offers.

Captivate 09: Dead Rising 2, Lost Planet 2 And Much More
4/28/2009 10:00:00 AM
It didn’t blow anyone away with surprise announcements, but Capcom definitely showed off an impressive lineup at this year’s Captivate. Aside from first looks at recently announced sequels like Dead Rising 2, Lost Planet 2 and Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles, the company showed off new builds of Dark Void and the reimagined Spyborgs. Unlike last year’s event, however, downloadable games didn’t seem to be much of a focus. Aside from Marvel vs. Capcom 2 and the PSP download-only fighter Fate/unlimited codes, there wasn’t much on the PlayStation Network or Xbox Live Arcade fronts. Read on for our impressions of it all, with plenty of screens, videos and tons of other info.

Nintendo Celebrates Spring With Green DS Bundle
4/27/2009 12:43:00 PM

Nintendo announced today that starting May 3, a new DS Lite color will be available in the company’s spring bundle. In addition to a green DS,
gamers will also get a carrying case and a copy of Personal Trainer: Cooking—an obvious clue that Nintendo is hoping the bundle will appeal to sons and daughters looking for a good Mother’s Day gift. Which isn’t actually that bad of an idea: get your mom to choose from one of the 245 recipes in Personal Trainer: Cooking, than use her new DS to play GTA: Chinatown Wars while she makes you dinner. Or you can actually be a good child and also get her something she’d enjoy playing, like those cute Nintendogs she’s heard so much about.

Six Days in Fallujah Gets Walking Papers
4/27/2009 12:30:00 PM
Asahi.com reported today that after receiving myriad complaints about the controversial third-person shooter Six Days in Fallujah, Konami Digital Entertainment Co. has decided to pass on publishing the game. Regarding the decision, a Konami spokesman had this to say:

“After seeing the reaction to the videogame in the United States and hearing opinions sent through phone calls and e-mail, we decided several days ago not to sell it… We had intended to convey the reality of the battles to players so that they could feel what it was like to be there."

Snickety Snickt--Weekly Roundup 4/27
4/27/2009 10:57:00 AM
Hey, it's one of those weeks where the planets of gaming and movies align, resulting in a near simultaneous release of a film (X-Men Origins: Wolverine, in this case) and a game based on that film. We're not sure what "planets of gaming and movies" really means, so just nod your head politely. In other release news, Jane's Addiction's "Nothing's Shocking" is hitting Rock Band, Hotel for Dogs is getting its Blu-ray release and a bunch of comics arrive in stores. Comics.

Bethesda Shows Off Rogue Warrior, Wet
4/27/2009 9:00:00 AM
Over the years, Bethesda has demonstrated its aptitude in the RPG space, but there’s more to it than that. In addition to its internally produced titles, the publisher also works with third parties. Bethesda recently showed off two such games at an event in London. The first, Rogue Warrior is a fairly traditional third-person shooter based on the exploits of noted Navy SEAL and author Richard “Demo Dick” Marcinko. Another game, Wet, is a stylish shooter that was originally slated to be published by Vivendi Games before becoming a temporary casualty of the Activision Blizzard merger. Both games focus on gunplay, but they could hardly be more different. Read on for a look at each of them.

4/24/2009 2:48:00 PM

If you love Rock Band and Jane’s Addiction, then you’ve got reason to celebrate: next week the band’s second album, Nothing’s Shocking, will be coming available as a Rock Band 2 download for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and Wii. The pack will feature all of albums tracks except for “Mountain Song” which was part of the original Rock Band 2 soundtrack, and can be bought for $15.99 for the whole album, or $1.99 per individual track (Wii owners will unfortunately only be able to buy the tracks individually). The album includes Jane’s Addiction’s biggest hit, “Jane Says,” and Rolling Stone included the album in its list of the “Top 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.” Nothing’s Shocking will be available for the Xbox 360 and Wii on April 28th, and the Playstation 3 on April 30th.

Star Trek: D-A-C Coming to Xbox Live Arcade
4/23/2009 4:36:00 PM

Paramount Digital Entertainment, Bad Robot Interactive, CBS and Naked Sky Entertainment have teamed up to make a top-down space shooter inspired by the upcoming Star Trek movie. Star Trek: D-A-C will debut on Xbox Live Arcade in May and show up on the Playstation Network and Windows PC shortly after. Featuring online multiplayer, Star Trek: D-A-C will allow up to 12 players to wage war between Starfleet and the Romulan Empire in Team DeathMatch, Assault and Conquest modes. Players will also be able to choose between three different ship types (Flagship, Fighter, and Bomber) for each faction, all of which have their own special attributes and weapons. While Star Trek: D-A-C will not be based on the new movie’s storyline, it will feature the new U.S.S. Enterprise, as well as music and sounds directly from the film.

Paramount didn’t mention a specific release date for the game, so we’re not yet sure when gamers will get to try their luck in the captain’s chair—but with the new movie debuting May 8th, we’re sure Star Trek: D-A-C won’t be far behind.
