Apple To Buy EA?

h boy, here comes another rumor. Investor Guy Adami notes there is “chatter” that Apple is considering buying video game publishing giant Electronic Arts, according to The Street.

The move seems plausible considering Apple’s recent success selling
downloadable games via its iPhone and iPod Touch devices but is not realistic to some analysts. Speaking with Gamasutra, Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter said, “Apple could buy Warner Music for around $3 billion, and control 20 percent of all recorded music.” Pachter continues, “That makes more sense to their current business model than buying EA for more than twice that, doesn't it?"

EA owns a large number of high-profile game properties. If Apple were to buy EA, the iTunes company could exclusively produce titles for its own handheld devices, and that might be like throwing a can of hairspray into a fire, igniting the handheld war with Nintendo and Sony even more. We’re sure this only the beginning of the Apple-EA rumor.
