May Cover Story Revealed
Well, what do you know. After the cliffhanger ending of the first game, Assassin’s Creed is back for more. “A New Hero for a New Time,” eh? What could that possibly mean? Just judging from the cover art, this isn’t the same Altair that we’re used to. At the very least, he’s picked up some spiffy new threads, right? Nope.
Achievements: The Easiest, The Hardest And The Most Ingenious.
Love them or hate them, you can’t deny that Microsoft’s introduction of achievements changed the formula (and motivation) of play. While some gamers simply ignore them, others harvest them in order to augment a number that now indicates one’s gaming prowess.
We Talk To Keita Takahashi, The Man Behind Noby Noby Boy
Keita Takahashi’s first game was a smash hit, seemingly in spite of itself. Katamari Damacy centered around rolling a ball across the world, picking up stray bits of flotsam, until the ball of collected junk was large enough to pick up entire continents. After a sequel, We Love Katamari, Takahashi began work on a new game.
Appetite For Destruction: The Red Faction: Guerilla Interview
When Volition’s Red Faction debuted nearly eight years ago, its environments were a revelation. Players could change the world (and level geometry) with their weapons, knocking holes in walls and blasting through cover.
Old School: Talking Games With David Crane, Steve Cartwright
Pitfall. Megamania. A Boy and His Blob. Barnstorming. Outlaw. Oh, and a little company called Activision. If the names David Crane and Steve Cartwright don't immediately sound familiar, their accomplishments in the world of gaming speak volumes.

Game Informer Unlimited #66

As subscribers know, Assassin’s Creed II takes place in Renaissance Italy. As they did with the first game, Ubisoft Montreal relied on help from a variety of historical consultants as they built their fictional world. In the sequel, one such consultant is Margaret Meserve, assistant professor of history at the University of Notre Dame. We spoke with Meserve to get her perspective on not only the game, but on this fascinating time in world history.

Indiana Jones!
ndiana Jones is back—on the Wii. In the upcoming Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings, players step into the shoes of the fabled adventurer (or his father, in the co-op experience) and travel the world in search of the elusive artifact. Speaking of elusive, the game’s producer, Matt Vella, dodged some of our trickier questions. We did get some interesting info out of him during a recent conversation, though. Read on for the full story.

The Blob
After a considerable hiatus, the NES game A Boy and His Blob is getting a Wii update. The new game keeps the game’s shape-shifting sidekick and puzzle elements, but includes some action-oriented segments to shake things up a little. We chatted with developer WayForward and got the skinny on the upcoming game.
