Simon Cowell: "Secretly in Love" With Paula Abdul

 Ray Mickshaw/WireImage.com Simon Cowell can't make up his mind about fellow American Idol judge Paula Abdul. "Paula's frustrating, she's annoying and I can't understand half of what she's talking about -- but there's incredible comfort between us," he tells TV Guide (on stands April 30). "I think we're possibly secretly in love with each other." See Paula Abdul's craziest style over the years. He doesn't have as many warm feelings for Kara DioGuardi. When asked if the fourth judge will be back next year, Cowell says, "I would imagine so. The only say I have is about Ryan [Seacrest], Randy [Jackson] and Paula. I've always made it clear that I wouldn't like to do the show without them." See Idol's weights ups and downs. Adding that extra judge was "bad enough," he opines. "Now it's a girl, huge problem. Girls do tend to talk a little bit more than guys. Randy's quick, and I don't say too much. But my God, these two!" Another similarity between DioGuardi and Abdul: they both can't stop googling themselves. "I'm probably the only person on the show who doesn’t monitor himself [on the Internet]," he says. "All the contestants, all the judges, particularly the girls, [do]. If you're on TV, there are certain people who'll like you and there are a hell of a lot who'll hate you. You just have to get used to it." Cowell thinks the contestants are a little boring this year, but he knows how to rile them up. See the most controversial contestants of all time. "My idea is to plant secret cameras in the house. And then we'd hear what they really think about one another. I'd like to see them fighting, screaming, hate each other," he says. "I hate seeing a united bunch...it would be like taking part in the Olympics and holding hands and crossing the finish line together," he continues. See which Idols have had weddings and babies. Who does he think will win this season? "The final will be Danny [Gokey] and Adam [Lambert]...55/45, Danny versus Adam," he says. "I don't care who wins, by the way, I just want it to feel like a competition." (Meanwhile, an iTunes glitch revealed that Lambert and Kris Allen are outselling Gokey, The New York Post reports.) Cowell -- who also judges on The X-Factor and Britain's Got Talent -- may not be around to see another season of Idol. "I think nine seasons is a lot," he says. I would love Paula and Simon together... I have watched the show since it has began and I have always thought they would be a great fit. Regarding Kara... i agree.. she just doesn't fit. Atleast for me anyway.

seriously he must be pretty dumb to not understand paula. i understand her perfectly. but i know. its just their "thing". he pretends he doesnt understand her, when he really does. it gets people talking- and it gets them to watch the show and keep it Nr 1. thats all that matters, that it stays nr 1. i think she gives great analogies, shes very smart. if you dont understand what she means then that is Your problem, not hers. if you are so dumb you cannot figure out what she means. she always has a point when she goes into her "speeches". i love her

they do have the most special and most unique relationship in TV history. thats why they are #1 in TV history. chemistry. they are Very inconsistent, but that also helps make it more "real".

Yes, Paula and Simon should stay on AI. It would be like Hamlet without the prince if either one of them were not in it. Randy's ok. Kara, on the other hand does not seem to fit into the picture. Her critiques are quite patronising, for instance, remember the way she told Adam Lambert couple weeks ago, "You are, inspiring." gesticulating with her hands, her face and her torso. She sounded really silly!!!

I agree with Lucy, Idol would definitely not be the same. The only reason I watch is because of Paula and Simon's (I'm a Saula shipper! hehe) chemistry, it's fantastic! I hate the fact that Kara is there now because the judges do not get to interact as much, there's practically no camera time :( and that's what kept me glued to Idol for all these seasons! Why don't they just get together already? He's single, she's single, hello!? They're perfect for eachother, afterall Paula did say 'opposites attract' ;) It's like Simon has a soft spot when it comes to Paula because she's probably different from anyone he's ever met in his entire life..it's just the way that he looks at her with complete and total adoration. I am glad that they're coming to realize their true emotions and they'll hopefully act on them.

I love Simon. The show would not be the same without him. It actually wouldn't be the same without any of them, except Kara. I like her but she hasn't always been there like the others so I'm just not as used to her.
