Strong quake hits swine flu plagued Mexico

MEXICO CITY, April 27 (RIA Novosti) - A quake measuring 6.0 on the Richter scale hit Mexico on Monday, a RIA Novosti correspondent reported.

The underground quake, centered some 150 miles from the capital Mexico City hit southeast Tixtla, in the province of Guerrero, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

Local rescue services said there are no reports of casualties or damage.

The earthquake caused high-rise buildings to shake and prompted an immediate evacuation of the area.

Mexico is currently struggling with an outbreak of swine flu, which is suspected to have claimed 149 lives.
