Mexican swine flu death toll rises to 149

MEXICO CITY, April 27 (RIA Novosti) - The number of people to have died from suspected swine flu in Mexico has risen by 46 to 149, the country's health minister, Jose Angel Cordova, said on Monday.

The victims are all aged between 20 and 50, the minister added.

Over 1,000 people are believed to be infected with the deadly virus in the Central American country. Swine flu outbreaks have been registered in 10 Mexican states.

Forty cases of swine flu have been confirmed in the United States and six in Canada, although there have been no fatalities. The United States has declared a public health emergency.

One case of swine flu has also been confirmed in Spain. A number of cases of possible swine flu have also been reported in the U.K.
