Browns invite QB Harrell to upcoming minicamp

CLEVELAND -- After going undrafted, Texas Tech quarterback Graham Harrell has agreed to attend the Cleveland Browns' rookie minicamp this weekend.

The record-setting passer does not have a contract with the team.

"Yes, he will participate in the minicamp," agent Chad Speck said in an e-mail. The Browns would not confirm inviting Harrell to the minicamp, which runs from Friday through Sunday.

Doyel: Harrell too productive, experienced to be drafted

Harrell threw an NCAA-record 134 touchdown passes. More impressive was his completion percentage -- above 70 in two 5,000-yard seasons.

He also was one of 15 finalists for the Draddy Trophy, which goes to the nation's top scholar-athlete and was won by the Browns first-round pick, center Alex Mack.

Cleveland already has Brady Quinn, Derek Anderson and Brett Ratliff on the roster at quarterback.

The Browns are adding the best players available, smart, low drama guys who love the game.  One of the biggest problems the Browns have had for the last 10 years has been their depth.  The back-ups have been horrible.  That is why, when injuries have occured, the Browns have done poorly.  Other than ...(more)

The truth of the matter is that Harrell was not a sexy pick...and when I say that it has no relevance to what he looks like.  We all know he put up freakishly good passing numbers- but that was in a spread offense, which only one team in the modern era has tried (the Redskins under Spurrier) and failed badly...very badly.  So ther ...(more)

Is Mangini just trying to create an issue with Quinn?  I am not a Cleveland fan, but I believe most of the NFL knows that Brady Quinn should easily be the starter now for the Browns.  He sat as a Rookie, and played a small amount last year before being injured.&n; ...(more)

I am still trying to figure out how Graham Harrell went undrafted.........10,800+ yards passing the past two years, giving the Texas Tech Raiders the best record that they ever had in the toughest conference in the country. The guy was the favorite for the Heisman after the Texas win, and then dropped off the map after losing to Oklahoma, i ...(more)

If Mangina doesn't like Quinn or Anderson let one or both go and bring in your guy and be done with it.  This team isn't going anywhere with both of them on the same roster b/c if he hasn't settled on a QB by July this is going to be another long season on the shores of Lake Erie.
