Resident Evil 5

Resident Evil 5 - Xbox 360

Pros Cons
Addictive gameplay Doesn't live up to expectations
every one is jaded

listen people resident evils inovation have seem to anger a few...Dont get mad at the game embrace the change, in real life you cant stop time to change your weapons, and if you have a dumb partner then learn how to deal with them, I dont think the game is bad i just think we have to get used to change...oh and about the controls, they were good in the past and they'll do fine now.
my quote is if something isnt broke dont fix it! 4/5 there isnt a game that is perfect but this one is close.

What RE needs to do is go back to actually shooting Zombies and get rid of the black tentacles. Which are in no way scary and horribly overused in this latest installment. And have a little bit more of a story would have been nice. When I go back to RE4 and say "Why doesn't RE5 got a story like this!"

It almost feels like this is the same tune we have been dancing to this generation. A couple add ons and a graphical upgrade. Devil May Cry 4, Halo 3, EVERY Guitar Hero, Madden, Street fighter, Mortal Kombat, etc etc etc.

all these games just don't seem innovative enough! And your probably asking "then what game is?"

Resident Evil 4.

Resident Evil 5 should have blown my mind away even with the tentacles but now that its finished I feel a little "ho hum" about the expierience as a whole. Not that I'm saying that its terrible at all, but I was hoping for so much more.

Heres to Resident Evil 6

I've been playing RE since the original game out in '96. Resident Evil is a slow paced survival horror game that's core gameplay revolved around managing items and avoiding confrontation whenever possible. It was about solving puzzles, clearing rooms, fighting tyrants, and fighting zombies. Resident Evil 2 was a masterpiece. Resident Evil 0 screwed things up by taking out item boxes.

Then Resident evil 4 came around. It was fun, I'll give it that. And definately the worst in the series. It beat the series to an unrecognizeable bloody pulp, stole all of its unique features, and left it dying in a back alley. I'm surprised it wasn't rated AO, because it was Murderporn starring Mainstream Gaming and my favorite game series of all time.

If the next die hard movie was a romatic comedy, critics wouldn't say "embrace the change." they'd say "blow crap up."

Resident Evil 4 ruined the series. It "changed" itself by embracing the one thing that the series was unique for shunning. RE is not an action series, at all. The entertainment and horror comes from being trapped in a room with a killer monster with a huge claw and an exposed heart with only the pistol an 15 rounds left. Not from having 3 guns, grenades, and a rocket launcher, fighting a monster with a huge spine that's twitching like an insect.

Resident Evil died a long time ago. As far as i'm concerned, RE0, RE, RE2, RE3, and Code Veronica are the only games in the series. The series ends at CV, and zero is the last real resident evil game that capcom will ever release.

I'm not embracing anything. I'm just praying that capcom has the dignity to just let the series die, rather than walk around decaying like the zombies the games are supposed to feature.

I'll agree that it is a total innovation. I loved RE4 and glad to see they expanded on it. What I like is that they put you in the middle of a full on infestation kinda like it is supposed to feel. What I don't like is that it feels more like a gears of evil type of game because you have sooo much ammo available and you can just run and gun the whole time pretty much. BUT, I applaud capcom for taking a ballsy move and innovating. Change is good. It shows what works, and what doesn't. As a whole I believe this works. Is it my cup of tea? Not really, but lots of other people are into it. I'm glad to see them keep the franchise fresh and alive for this long.

As with most gamers out there, I had raised the bar monumentally high for the release Resident Evil 5. But thats due to the fact its predecessor broke so many barriers in gaming and introduced gaming mechanics that have evolved into industry staples. With release of RE5 I have to admit, it left me wishing for so much more. It did very little in terms of progression, however, graphics and AI took a forward leap but that can be said of many games in this generation of consoles. I feel RE5 took more steps backwards than forwards. Why leave out the merchant, why take shortcuts in the story, why the change in inventory menus (both options should be available from the start). My frustration is small but niticable when it comes to treasure maps that are not found this time around. The co-op is a great new feature, however, once again it feels tacked on and should have been an option not a manditory aspect of the game. The RE vibe is completely gone, not once have I been surprised or freaked out but on many occasions found certain areas to be boring and not at all difficult. For having to wait years for this new title to manifest I am certain for long time fans that this title although fun at times, will leave you waiting years for the next TRUE Resident Evil.

I enjoyed Resident Evil 5, but I did have a few issues with it. There was the familiar taste of GEARS OF WAR hidden inside, and while that is by no means a horrible game, it's not Resident Evil. This game was more CALL OF DUTY than Resident Evil. What ever happened to the exploration? The puzzle solving is welcome too, but when you're upsetting gamers with the three mirror rooms, it can be more frustrating than it needs to be. That said, Resident Evil 5 is fun, and addicting, but I don't want to give away a perfect 10 just yet. A 9.25 would feel right.

Great game. However, it has lost the luster that was one "true" resident evil. The days of opening that next door and wondering whats lurking behind it are gone. The chilling music that questioned you're next step are non-existent. It has definitely gone mainstream, catering to the alpha masses that are intent on destroying instead of solving. What was once a cunning mystery of puzzles is now just another trigger.

Well, there's a lot I could say about Resident Evil's current state, but morgenstern pretty much expressed EXACTLY how I feel. Right down to only counting RE0, 1, 2, 3 and CV as a part of true Resident Evil's canon.
If Resident Evil 4/5 is what Survival Horror is 'evolving' into, then the genre will soon be extinct. Because RE4/5 lack the ammo conserving, sparse healing, puzzle solving survival aspect, and they aren't scary. Not even mildly creepy. As far as I'm concerned, they aren't true Resident Evil games.

Dead Space is hands down what RE5 -should- have been. All RE5 turned out to be was Resident Evil 4, minus a plot, plus a girl that will on occasion give you stuff you need and not useless crap.

The bosses were unimagined, the enemies moved identical to those of RE4. If you ask me, RE5 is officially the death of the series.

Just because RE4 took a different direction with the genre and did it extremely well, doesn't mean that it killed Resident Evil. If Resident Evil 4 played anything like any of the games before it or featured the same type of enemies and scares, you would be all over it because it is unoriginal.

That is the truth, and you are welcome.
