Leszek ¦widziński

Tenor. Leszek ¦widziński is a graduate of Warsaw's Academy of Music, in the solo singing class of Prof. Kazimierz Pustelak. He has taken part in the Mozarteum international master classes in Salzburg. He started performing oratorio concerts while still a student, including Johann S. Bach's "Magnificat", Wolfgang A. Mozart's "Requiem", and Gioacchino Rossini's "Stabat Mater". He debuted in 1988 with the part of Ferrando in Mozart's "Cosi fan tutte" at the Warsaw Chamber Opera. The artist performs regularly in that opera house's music cycles, including the Mozart Festival (at which he has sung 11 tenor parts), the Baroque Opera Festival, the Monteverdi Festival, the Old Polish Music Festival, and Music in Warsaw's Historic Buildings. Together with the Warsaw Chamber Opera, he has performed at international festivals, including Karientischesommer in Villach, Klangbogen in Vienna, Al-Bustan in Beirut, and at many theatres in Denmark, France, The Netherlands and Germany. The artist has many radio and television recordings to his credit, mainly songs (including Ignacy J. Paderewski's "6 Songs to Words by Adam Mickiewicz"). He has recorded 4 CD's and a film based on songs by Chopin.

His debut at the Grand Theatre in Warsaw was the part of Edgar in Gaetano Donizetti's "Lucia di Lammermoor". He has also sung the following parts at our theatre: Belmont in Mozart's "Abduction From the Seraglio", Alfred in Giuseppe Verdi's "La Traviata", Rudolf in Giacomo Puccini's "La Boheme", and Stefan in Stanisław Moniuszko's "Haunted Manor". He also sang the title role in Giacomo Orefice's opera "Chopin" and the part of Don Ottavio in Mozart's "Don Giovanni". ¦widziński has been a guest performer as the Count in Gioacchino Rossini's "Barber of Seville", Stefan in Moniuszko's "Haunted Manor", and Ernesto in Gaetano Donizetti's "Don Pasquale", at the theatres of Wrocław, Cracow, ŁódĽ, Bydgoszcz, Szczecin and Bytom. His repertoire also includes songs by Stanisław Moniuszko, Fryderyk Chopin, Mieczysław Karłowicz, Ignacy Jan Paderewski, Robert Schumann, and Franz Schubert.
