Chronicles of a Serial Killer - Part Ten

SHANNON - the tattoo...Snow storms encapsulated Middle America last week in an insane rage. It was the perfect moment to take a trip to Oklahoma, where most of the action was happening. So I packed up the car and drove like a madman straight into the heart of it. As I expected, the roads where being shut down, so I found the back roads and hit up the local blood for some fun.

It’s so easy to kill and get away with it in a snow storm. I don’t see why more people don’t do it. The cold isn’t that bad to deal with; you can always get back into your car after you beat someone to a bloody pulp. If it’s falling heavy, the snow will cover the body within 10 minutes and it won’t even be found for 2 days, sometimes longer.

ROBERT HALL'S ALMOST HUMAN - Full Circle

FANGORIA #282Full circle.

You hear that a lot, but what does it mean? I can only speak for myself, and as I flip through old photos trying to de-clutter my life I found some gems that I wanted to share.

In Tony's touching Elegy in the current issue 282 of FANGORIA, he talks about that first meeting between he and I in 1989 at the FANGORIA'S WEEKEND OF HORRORS in Detroit (my first con) where we took that infamous photo. I almost shared that pic today but I know Tony doesn't like his 80's shirt and frankly, I am making a dumb expression. :) As you can see below, my shirt isn't much better as my hero Kane Hodder mock strangles me as I gleefully wear my very first self sculpted and applied makeup. I was soooooo proud of my blistery face that I had made out of slip latex that I ran up to KNB honcho Greg Nicotero and tried to scare him! He apparently wasn't scared and I walked away bloody and embarrassed.

Fango-fright at the EASTERN HAUNTERS CONVENTION

PUMPKIN?For Part I of our EASTERN HAUNTERS Coverage, we have a blog and photos from Mistress Bekah. Check back all week for Exclusive Video! We'll be posting one clip a day through Saturday!

Happy spring holidays everyone! This is a wonderful time of year full of rabbits and celebrated traditions and Halloween. Oh yeah! This weekend I got to celebrate Halloween in April. I traveled to Valley Forge, Pennsylvania for the Eastern Haunters Convention. With my Fango road buddy Ian David in tow (who was super psyched to be recognized by a fan there), we toured haunted houses, checked out the latest development in “scare” technology, sampled FX make-up, and met the people you turn to every Halloween to scare the hell out of you.

BSB: CENTERFOLD CREMATOR gets LAID TO REST

CHRIS ALEXANDERI get lots of lovely lurid stuff in the mail that sometimes I just don’t have the time to write about and the stacks of sick flicks are starting to pile up. So just to ensure that these occasionally spectacular new release/ reissue titles don’t slip through the creepy cracks, allow me to insert this little dark entry in ye old Bloode Spattered Blogge and lay some love on a slew of pictures that recently rocked my world.

Ready? Here we go…

Chronicles of a Serial Killer- Part Nine

SHANNON LARKWhatever happened to just plain fun? When you slaughter every living thing around you just because you can? Whatever happened to abandoning all inhibitions, stripping off your clothes, and diving in?

So much of my life lately has been eaten up by business. Now that Fangoria’s 2010 Spooksmodel contest is underway, I feel personally responsible that these women become successful at killing too, unless they want to do something else in life (though I would have no idea why). I’m beginning to wonder if this is how I will always feel: like I’ve birthed a generation of Spooksmodels. It’s exhausting. I’m completely parched!

GAY OF THE DEAD 10: NOVEMBER SON’s Brinke Stevens and Sacha Sacket.

GAY of the DEADFor NOVEMBER SON (available on DVD April 14), the sequel to the gay thriller OCTOBER MOON, writer/director Jason Paul Collum worked with both ends of the genre spectrum, the seasoned vet (Brinke Stevens) and the first-film newbie (Sacha Sacket).

Stevens, who reprises the role of “Nancy” in NOVEMBER SON, has over 100 acting credits. If you are a fan of the genre, you know Stevens even if you’ve never seen one of her films. By all accounts one of the nicest and most accommodating actresses to work with, Stevens weathered the “Girl in the Shower” storm of her early films and has come out the other side with nuanced performances in films like MOMMY and OCTOBER MOON. At an age when most B-movie queens fade into real estate careers, Stevens keeps racking up the roles, and she doesn’t have to take off her top to do it.

I-CON 28: Elves, Zombies, & Ninjas - Oh My!

iconkidsAn elf, a zombie, a rabbi, and an anime ninja walk into an all-purpose gym. OK, so there’s no punch line, but it does sum up my weekend. This past weekend, FANGORIA traveled to Long Island for the 28th annual I-CON Convention. Though small compared to the New York Comic-Con or FANGORIA's Weekend of Horrors, I-CON does have a great deal of charm and personality all its own.

After setting up our booth, I journeyed out into the sea of vendors and costumed fans to see what I could find. Glancing over the convention schedule, I realized that FANGORIA was the ONLY horror company there! I had my work cut out for me, spreading the word of Fango and representing the entire horror community by myself.

INTERnal Injuries: Geeking out at I-CON 28

FANGORIA #209After catching TOXIC AVENGER: THE MUSICAL for the second time last night I did the responsible thing and called it an early night. “This is New York, Drew! It’s still early!” My friends, however, did not have to get up early and jump on the LIRR for the first time and find their way to Suffolk County for the 28th annual I-CON Convention. So yes, I went to I-CON 28 today and NO I did NOT dress up like Tom Bombadil from THE LORD OF THE RINGS. I was planning to but was told he was cut out of the movie. Instead, I wore my Monroeville Zombies hockey jersey and a smile!

ROBERT HALL'S ALMOST HUMAN- Everyone's A Critic

FANGORIA 282These days, literally every kid with a laptop and a domain name can become a force on the Internet for viable, searched out, Twittered, blogged and book-faced information. A pro-blogger can write and upload a review of your film on his smart phone in the middle of a Jonas Brothers concert for millions of people to read in a flash. I love technology.

I always enjoy reading “reviews” of the films I direct and do FX for, just to see what folks are thinking. With the imminent release of LAID TO REST I find myself Googling it daily (pathetic I know) and finding little gems on obscure horror sites, YouTube, various blogs and what not. We’ve been extremely lucky with the reviews thus far… the horror crowd is really digging the film, so much so that it scares me. It was a little bitty film and people are saying that the movie has “the best kills” in years… wow. That’s a lot to live up to.
