At this years VES 2009 event Crytek received the "Outstanding Real Time Visuals in a Video Game" award for the visuals in Crysis Warhead. Crysis was nominated for the same award last year. The 7th annual Visual Effects Society Awards ceremony was held on February 21, 2009 in Los Angeles, California. Congratulations to Crytek!

Crytek has released a hotfix for Crysis Warhead patch #1 fixing several minor issues including the changing of resolution in Windows Vista (introduced by the original patch). This hotfix updates the game from v1.1.1.710 to v1.1.1.711. Thanks for the tip, Bigbuck.

Be it PrintScrn, F12, Fraps or whatever, every now and then the press of a screenshot key produces vistas from the CryENGINE 2 universe that stand out from the crowd. Here's "a few" hand-picked screenshots from Crysis and Crysis Warhead. Many of the screens show custom textures/maps/mods etc. There are also screens produced by the latest craze called ToD Art where people modify Time of Day settings to create either realistic or artistic results. The web has been buzzing about this since yesterday and Crytek has today officially announced their acquisition of Free Radical Design, an independent video games developer studio located in Nottingham, United Kingdom. The future of the company has been uncertain since December 2008 after being under thread of closing its doors. Free Radical Design has released console titles such as the Timesplitters series and Haze. The company is now known as Crytek UK.
