Responsa -- Answers to Pertinent Questions:

Digestive System

Q: What is the inner meaning of digestive problems? How can I correct these problems?

A:

The digestive system corresponds to the sefirah of malchut. The rectification for problems with this system is to reach true shiflut, lowliness, as King David said, "And I am prayer." Prayer is one's expression of total dependence on G-d, standing before Him in submission and lowliness. It is also important to devote yourself toward establishment of the kingdom of Israel in the world.

One of the Lubavitcher Rebbe's "campaigns" is "Bchhol d'rachecha da'ayhu." In everything that one does, one should attach himself to G-d. When you eat, meditate on the verse, "Man does not live by bread alone, but rather by the word of G-d." Also meditate on the secret of the manna, the heavenly bread that was totally digested in the body of the consumer.
