the Jewish Year

Rabbi Shneur Zalman of Liadi (Alter Rebbe), founder of Chabad Chassidut, would often state that every Jew must learn how to relate to the weekly Torah portion as if it were describing events presently occurring in his or her own life--thus assuring that one is "living with the times," with the true time-frame of existence marked by the yearly cycle of the Torah reading as well as by the cycle of festivals which occur during the Hebrew calendar year. By setting one's own internal clock to the pulse and rhythm of Jewish life, one discovers the true harmony between God, man and Creation.
