Postgraduate study

If you want to pursue rewarding postgraduate study that matches not only your interests but your academic and career ambitions, Queen Mary, University of London could be right choice.

  • We have an established history of postgraduate study and research which has evolved and responded to the demands of postgraduate students. We have a dedicated Graduate School to ensure that we provide the best environment for your postgraduate study.
  • We offer a vibrant research community that reflects the cutting edge work of academic staff.   Over 80 per cent of research staff work in departments where research is of national or international excellence (Research Assessment Exercise 2001).
  • We have a number of specialist graduate study and research centres including the Centre for Commercial Law Studies (CCLS), the Interdisciplinary Research Centre (IRC) in Biomedical Materials and the newly established AHRB Centre for Editing Lives and Letters (CELL).   The Centre for Business Management has launched a new MA in International Management and further programmes in business disciplines are planned.
  • Our students earn the second highest graduate salaries in the UK according to the Sunday Times' 2004 survey.   In 2004 we had the second highest average graduate salary in the UK - £21,686 compared to the national average of £16,393.
  • We have a strong international reputation with 20 per cent of students coming from over 100 countries.

Facilities

We offer integrated library and computing services which recognise the diverse needs of postgraduate students by providing specialist subject librarians and offering 24 hour access to computers.   The Library's collections at graduate level reflect the development and direction of research in the College over the years with extensive material covering the humanities; law; medicine; areas of natural sciences; engineering; mathematics; computer science and the social science. The newly opened Learning Resource Centre has 200 networked PCs and is open to students round the clock.

A new home for the Humanities and Social Sciences Graduate School is being created in the former Lock-keeper's Cottage by the Regent's Canal at Queen Mary's Mile End Campus.   The newly refurbished building will include seminar, common room and kitchen facilities for staff and students, and three further open plan rooms for postgraduate study.   The School of Laws building has also seen considerable investment in the renovation of its facilities.   Reorganisation of the Arts Building and new research facilities for Drama, Film and Linguistics combined with these redevelopments will create an attractive and integrated Arts Quarter on campus.
