Gamer's Pulse
The extra additions of the grooves and super combos was also a stroke of genius, and now that I look at this tiny little disc, I have to ask myself, “How did they fit it all in there?”

A top-notch beat-’em-up...The only problem that really exists with the game aren’t really Capcom’s fault at all – yep, it’s the controller. [Import]

Gamestyle
Very little has changed since when it first graced home consoles on the Super Nintendo and that is no bad thing.

Game Informer
It includes everything offered in the PS2 version, but features an odd control scheme. [Nov 2002, p.134]

An excellent 2D fighting game...The game does not work for one simple reason -- the GameCube controller.

Nintendo Power
It's fast, beautifully rendered, and full of challenge. [Oct 2002, p.195]

If you are fortunate enough to have both a Gamecube and a PS2, I highly recommend choosing the PS2 version. From a visual and audio standpoint they are nearly identical. But, the Dual-Shock controller will be a much nicer fit than the GC's.

GameCube Europe
Overall the Streetfighter games have always been annoyingly hard, and in times where gameplay is focused on a merely mainstream type of gamers, this game probably suits the need for those hardcore arcade action lovers.

The best 2D fighter released on a major Nintendo console in about eight years. The GameCube controller may not be ideal for this kind of game, but neither are any other next-gen system controllers.

Though the game is still technically and visually sound, the control is just so horrid that it’ll make you wonder why this project was even green-lighted. [Import]

The cornucopia of stages and fighters, underpinned by the perfectly honed combat, satisfies for months. [Nov 2002, p.96]

Cringe worthy dialogue, a confusing interface, and general monotony hinder what is otherwise an enjoyable experience.

A high quality fighting game. Just be wary that the GC controller isn’t the best for it.

While outdated, it’s still the best (only?) 2D fighter for the GameCube, and worth a rental.

The controller will prove to be very frustrating and the other configuration really cheapens the game!

Recommended for hardcore fighting fans. Others may want to go with the version on PS2's console -- the controller is definitely better.

There just seems to be something empty in the gameplay. The fighting does not seem solid, and the tournament is less than exciting.

Helping out the younger GameCube fans with its “easy operation” system and keeping all the arcade trappings for the older crowd sounds like a good idea, but Capcom vs. SNK 2: EO comes up short.

Game Revolution
The fact that so little has changed combined with the weak GC-ism either suggests that Capcom thinks GC owners are mental invalids, or that Capcom doesn't think much about GC owners at all.

A solid fighting game, filled with many likable characters. Unfortunately, the GameCube's controller just wasn't designed to work well with a game like this, and it cripples your ability to play and enjoy it.

Daniel Z. gave it a10:
This is a great game for Street Fighter fans. I just loved the "GC-ism", no need to keep trying to do that awesome move/special, you just tilt the C-stick and it´s done !!! I keep sending hadoukens all day long. Thanks a lot Capcom!

Eduardo R. gave it a6:
Die-hard Street Fighter fans will enjoy it, but the graphics are unattractive and, as usual, the final bosses are TOO powerful (a single blow can´t take HALF of your energy away!!!). Moreover, the endings are so poor that you just don´t feel that fighting all the way up there is worthy...

Bob B. gave it a 10:
Good game controls are good for me.

Rob G. gave it a 9:
This is an excellent and challenging game with its only flaw being the controller set-up. I own a Superpad controller which makes the special moves much easier to perform than the standard Gamecube controller. The graphics, music, characters, and moves in this game are all top rate. I would highly recommend it if you have the right controller for it.

Billythesnipe gave it a 10:
Well i think the game is great see i just bought it today 5/29/03 and god damn its fun! i beat my bro so much at it i have to let him win. well the graphics *snicker* who gives a damn? 2d fighters are better than 3d fighters and ryu and hahomaro rock ass!

Shawn T. gave it a 10:
Great game.

A. Person gave it a 10:
Controllor is odd, and you have to adapt at first, but that doesn't take long. Once the buttons were set and I was used to it, I've actually grown to like the GC controllor for fighting games more than any other controllor. The game itself is hours of fun... enough hours to make serveral weeks.
