Biohazard: The Darkside Chronicles Wii revealed

New Wii Resi title uncovered in Japan
Famitsu has lifted the lid on a new Resident Evil game for Wii, entitled Biohazard: The Darkside Chronicles.

Nothing is known about the game other than its format, although screenshots in the scan of Famitsu magazine pictured (via Wii Everyday) hint that it could be set in the Resident Evil 2 plotline and star Chris and Claire Redfield.

It's also believed to be another on-rails shooter in the same vein as Umbrella Chronicles, with reduced difficulty levels. And if those shots are anything to go by, it's going to look quite nice, too.

More here the moment Capcom spills it.

woah, didn't see that coming: an on rails shooter for the wii!?
kudos to the devs for the original idea.

capcom please,please,please f*ck off with your sh*t games.(that includes 5,btw)

no doubt there'll be people 'very happy, very soon' about this but i'm not one of them.

garbage.

OH MY....

Another on the rails Resi?!

Couldnt they just remake it but under the Resi 4 engine!

:x

I hope to hell this isn't the news that will make Wii owners very happy, very soon...
FFS, we don't want more on rails shooters, we want proper Resi games, just like Resi 4 was!!!

Dead Space, this? FFS, it's embarrassing.

lol @ "very happy very soon"
I guessed it would be a UC sequel from the start. This is the last thing resi fans and Wii owners wanted.
Posted by ste hicky
marty: agreed fella but i've just checked it out on joystiq/nintendo and the famitsu scans show leon and claire circa resi 2. (addition: i know the scans are here on cvg but i seen them elsewhere then came here to moan,if anyone's wondering...)

what a complete load of sh1t.

where's the resi 2/veronica remake in the style of 4 capcom!!?

g@bshites.

So even Capcom are outsourcing for the Wii now.
And that looks like Leon Kennedy in the top left pic.

While I enjoy on-the-rails shooters, I want a more traditional Resi game. I guess they are just much quicker to develop than a full on adventure.

Set around Resi 2 would potentially be awesome too!

Hasn't every single second in the Resident Evil 2 timeline been whored enough already?

Umbrella Chronicles was a flawed but fun game, but announcing another on-rails shooter for WII is another kick in the balls for any gamer who believed Nintendo's claim that they wouldn't 'Do it again' with regards top quality products for their consoles and bought the little white box of lies and broken promise.

It'll be fun, don't get me wrong- but I'd rather wait for it to go pre-owned to buy it JUST to spite Capcom, who won't be getting a single other sale out of me again. Once again Capcom taking the piss out of us Resi fans, when we've given them nothing but support and praise over the series years.

the first one was fun, and quite good for what it was.

Hopefully this isn't the announcement on friday but it probably is. Oh well.
Posted by ste hicky
it's been confirmed that it IS an on rails shooter: http://wii.ign.com/articles/961/961342p1.html
what the f*ck is up with capcom and resi these day's?

are they trying to kill the series off with a load of inferior games to spite mikami or something?

first 5 turns out to be a dud and now this!?

oh well, back to 4: wii edition. it's the only proper resi i'll have to play for the next few years.... :(

anyway don't worry people we've still got spyborgs to come for our hardcore fix.

please god,kill me now..... :x

Capcom are going from one of my fave developers to one that's annoying the hell out me! Why are they intent on ruining one of my fave franchises??

Capcom soon to be CRapcom?...

Umbrella Chronicles wasn't bad and Resi 5 isn't going to be terrible either. Admittedly Dead Rising Wii wasn't great but then again, peopl demanded more Dead Rising.

I don't get all the recent Capcom hating. Aren't they the only guys releasing games regularly in this period right now? Wasn't Street Fighter IV decent? Haven't there games been good enough up to this point?

I think that this new game will simply follow on from UC and look at stuff like Resi 4, possibly the Degeneration movie stuff and pop in some new plot lines. It probably won't be the fan pleaser they are looking for.

Capcom, damned if they do, damned if they don't.

^^^^

when it comes to the wii, capcom just don't.

No Capcom, just no. I don't care how good an on-rails shooter this is, or Dead Space Extraction either, it's not the news that will make anyone "very, very happy." And I hope this message is conveyed to them by journalists or whoever when they talk to them about the game. This and Extraction are just games about maximum return for minimum effort.

i am disappointed that it isn't a remake of RE2 with RE4 controls, but i really liked umbrella chronicles, so i will probably get this too. IMO, the wii is excellent with on rails shooters, so i am kinda looking forward to this, but i am also annoyed with capcom
Posted by metroid master
loved the first Chronicles so i will proberly be getting this.
Bit disapointed that it's this instead of a remake though

In some places they already are Crapcom.

I really have given up hope on these guys. RE:UC was a lazy ass game with assets ripped straight out of the games it was based on, it looks with this they want to cover the games they missed out.

Not interested and have lost quite a bit of respect for the company, unless something miraculous happens that won't change.

After Resi 4 on the Wii, im suprised they are not doing a remake of 2.

Resident evil 5 (360,PS3) looks amazing!!! i dont understand why people think it is crap.

Speak for yourself. I love on-rails shooters and I'm happy with the news. I already have the feeling that it will be more 'Resident Evil' than Resident Evil 5 ever was.

Yes, it would have been nice to have a Res2 remake in the mould of Res Evil 4, but given that Chronicles was a solid, well-made and enjoyable title, I'm looking forward to more of the same.

Why is it that on-rails/light gun titles are suddenly nolonger seen as viable/proper games? It was never the case before.
