Total War dated, specs given

Around the world from March 4. A day earlier if you're American (or Canadian)
Sega has sent word that Empire: Total War will be released in North America and Canada on March 3 while the rest of the world will have to wait an extra 24 hours until March 4.

Posh PC gamers with fat broadband pipes can jump the queue and buy the game as a digital download from 18:00 GMT, March 3.

But those US and Canadian fellows will have to wait until 09:00 GMT, March 4 to buy the digital edition. Still with us?

The minimum system specifications have also been released:

  • Operating System: Windows XP 32(service pack 2), Windows Vista 32 OS
  • Processor: 2.4 GHz Single Core Intel or AMD equivalent processor
  • System Memory: 1GB RAM (XP) 2GB RAM (Vista)
  • Graphics Card: 256MB DirectX 9.0c compatible video card (shader 2.0 or higher)
  • Sound Card: Directx9.0c compatible sound card
  • Windows compatible mouse & keyboard (duh)
  • 15 GB free uncompressed hard drive space

No 64 bit support? Doesn't affect me but I'm sure thats going to upset a lot of people and it seems a bit silly.

My new PC will eat this... I hope :D especially after the Medieval 2 official patch made the game unplayable. Does anybody know whether you can play the campaign as anyone besides the Americans?
Posted by Uzi77
Yes, as an open campaign, as a story driven one, I think its just the Americans.

For the PC specs: Bring. It. On. :D 8)

As for the campaign setting I'd imagine they would do it the way they did with Medieval II. I'm not 100% sure though.

I will be a bit disappointed if the various factions that aren't accessible to start out with aren't unlockable.

There is 64bit support - this is just minimum requirements. Which unfortunately are basically pointless - are there any more telling 'recommended requirements' out?

damnit i was looking forward to this but looks like my pc wont run it - i could run rome but not this oh well

Oh I am looking forward to this one. Have it preordered. Also can't wait till the no doubt fantastic and thourghly complete mods come out for it as well. Probably months of my life will be spent playing both online and by myself.

I hope the head-to-head campaign mode proves to be equally as good as the traditional game. Oh and that it is released sometime soon.

Suprisingly low specs compared to what I thought they would be so I'm quite happy.
