CoD games have done the WW2 genre proud, and should just leave it where it is at now. Not to say I dislike WaW, because I think it's awesome, but I prefer the Modern warfare setting.
It seems a bit "generic" calling it "Modern Warfare 2". How hard is it to think of something else?! Im actually thinking of making a personal stand against Activision and not buying any of their games. When I heard they cancelled a lot of games because they couldnt see them being a yearly update/release my heart sank a little.
I know I would be missing out on some top quality titles but their way of thinking is against everything I love about gaming. Mario Kart meets Forza? Sounds like my worst nightmare! Calling it 'Modern Warfare 2' seems to suggest they are almost creating their own franchise... Interesting.
A new Tony Hawks that you don't use a controller with? Oh dear. Wii Balance Board anyone? One to avoid me thinks.
And ANOTHER Guitar Hero already. Yeesh... Wonder if it'll be an all 4 instrument, World Tour-esque game, or will it revert back to just guitars.
Or will it be something new entirely (how long before we see keyboard too?). I've had a great idea - basically you remember that level where your character gets blown up in the nuclear blast (or his helicopter does) and he stumbles around a bit before dying.
Maybe, he wakes up, and finds out he has mutated due to the radiation and he has 4 arms, the legs of a cricket, and rhino horns.
Modern warfare could see you as a mutated soldier fighting the Iraqis.
At first I was just joking, but I've managed to convince myself that this would be an awesome game. Imagine hoofing an Iraqi in the face with your horns and then jumping 300 foot in the air with your cricket legs.
:roll: I prefer the modern warfare idea to more WW2 but i was sort of wanting something along the lines of vietnam, that could have been done well, still i look forward to Modern Warfare 2. Perhaps Modern Warfare 2 is just a working title and just really an indication of what the game entails (basically following on from COD4).
I really don't know what the future holds for GH. I'll be looking forward to the Hendrix game, but I have no idea whether they'll make any significant changes to the format for the main series - I can't really see that there's any more room for extra instruments and I can't really see them adding any more gameplay features than WT already has (open strings, tapping, wah, slap bass etc). Plus, I don't think they can top the actual guitar packaged with WT.

:) COD:MW 2 will be great, W@W is already growing VERY old, back to MW for me until MW 2 :) W@W guns just do not feel that good at all, I know its WWII but its a game, I want fun, I'm at rank 34 and just cant be doing with it anymore....... although the STG is supposed to be a great gun and its lvl 37.... hmm..... then again I hate the majority of the levels :evil: As far as Guitar Hero is concerned, would it really do them damage to leave Guitar hero 5 for 2010?! I mean, seriously. The amount of GH games released in a 1 year time frame is staggering, and ridiculous. If they continue like this, people just wont bother with GH games anymore. Im just wondering how they can better the existing game engine,its a must have next christmas whatever they do.
I personally want a bigger and better single player campaign,always ends too quickly i think,even on veteran. I have World at War don’t play it and I’m still playing COD 4. Like many I think that World at War isn’t bad at all its just Modern Warfare is miles better.
Why do they dread a sci-fi genre? Does it have to a halo esque shooter?
Maybe they should entertain the thought of having a massive war that spans decades so you can get endless hours of game play, I mean not like 20 hours but something huge like 50 hours or something. I would like to see a war that starts in the near future i.e. 2100 or what ever and ends years after something like 2500. As you play through the game your weapons become more advanced as the years go by. I like the thought of a world war 3 where Britain and USA invade South Korea or Russia. I mean the power of the 360 and ps3 they could create massive levels where you have a mini nuke and could kill hundreds of enemies at a time. They should definitely do real life settings like fights in New York, London, The Amazon rain forest and real countries as enemies. Is this supposed to be a surprise? It's like saying next tuesday is confirmed.

Yessss! it might not be that bad, it could be an arcade racer where you can buy cars and upgrade them with things like oil slicks and missiles. You mean, like that awful SEGA racer? Mmmm. Wiked! I loved COD4, and i realy hope they have some excellent "holy C%*p" moments again, like the nuke after you've been all heroic and saved someone from a crash! ^_^
Maybe halfway through after you've grown attached to your character and team, your character stops moving and looks down at his bloodied hands because he's been hit by an unexpected snipers bullet! :D

Anyway, I'm glad to see there's another Modern Warfare coming, because I don't like WW2 shooters anyway so I never bothered with W@W.
There's not that many improvements I could think of making, but more destructible bits would be one - being able to blow away a sniper's cover would add a lot of strategy to the multiplayer.
As for a new franchise, I'm not sure. How many modern conflicts could they make? Surely they can't make that many about oil or nukes :) Activision are sucking the life out of this franchise quicker than jenna jameson in that movie about the pirates..they are basically doing what EA did backinnaday with crapping out games each year that lack any substance - they destroyed Xatrix/ Gray Matter ( i was hoping for a Kigpin sequel) - i am glad that infinity ward are at the helm again tho cuz treyarch just..man..no. So the next call of duty game will be called, Call of duty 6: Modern warfare 2? ROFL! Call of duty 6: Modern Warfare 2; Soap's revenge - This time its personal!

hey, this is bizarre we are talking about Excellent news! I was quite put out with the news that the next CoD would be WaW as opposed to continuing the the modern setting. That now appears to be on track to being rectified and I'm well pleased. :-) CoD: MW2 will definitely be on my most anticipated list now along with Empire: Total War for 2009. mario kart meets forza, a big smelly steaming pile of car wreckage then wicked, love cod 4, end of next year line up just got better, inface whole of next year Heh, indeed. Would make sense, you return as SOAP, though obviously with alot more experience in combat, etc.
Can't wait! And call it "Call of Duty 6: Soap Cleans Up!"

anyways, stoked for CoD6, loved CoD4 (who didn't) and CoD5 just isn't the same. Its really the only way infinity ward could go with the next CoD so they can just expand on CoD4 and try to maintain that winning formula and bring in the fans that brought the first game. Next up:

See, this is what i mean. You have already made a desision on wheather you are going to like it or not before any info was released on it. If it came out, you played it, and you didn't like it, then fine, but, I know and you know in your heads, if that game was released you would have given it a low review score no matter how good it was. But, what gets me the most, is that the next minuit your all crying out for something freash and new to play because there are to many many world war 2 games or whatever! A demo might help. Forking out 40+ GBP or euros to play a game one may already have misgivings about is hardly the most reassuring of feelings when shopping for the next game. :roll: Thats fantastic news. I really enjoyed Modern Warfare and still play it regually both single player and multiplayer online with mates. I have absolutely zero interest in World At War or any other ww2 game for that matter, as I prefer using modern weapons and equipment in fps rather than the rat-a-tat pop guns from days gone by. Just because a game is developed by Treyarch or Infinity Ward does not make it a good or bad game.
I own Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and agree with all of you that it is one of the best games in my collection. I haven't played Call of Duty: World at War yet cause I've been getting trophies from Grand Theft Auto IV and playing Little Big Planet. I plan to get Call of Duty 5 for Christmas and then I will make my own mind !! Half of you are saying you didn't even bother playing it well then you have no right to slate it!!! my only problem with Waw is that the british where not in it i mean i actually thought for a while that we were in that war but now i see sense so i just hope that the SAS are in cod6 :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

Infinity Ward could still be working on a sci fi game and when they do release it will it matter if it's called COD or not as it'll still be awsome. Becuase there was justno need to change it. I mean, comon, is 1 Modern Warfare game really enough? Besdies, i think a lot of people feel happier and more comfortable in a 'real' setting, or one that atleast may have some mild releveance to modern day, so the same will go for the characters, guns etc. Which is always nice.
Sci - FI just isn't COD though is it? Oh and Battlefield wasn't really a sci - fi tbh, more of a future shooter, like RSV.
Let's get real here, Infinty are the better makers of COD. If they went futuristic I'd like to see Infinity Ward team up with LucasArts and make "COD:Empire Versus Rebels"

You're right. I haven't played WaW nor do I plan on it. If I could get a demo free of charge I might give it a try and see what I think of it. I choose not to buy WaW because I find that for CoD to return to the WWII setting is a step in the wrong direction especially after CoD: Modern Warfare. That a MW 2 has now been confirmed is precisely the news I want to hear.
As for your claim that if you haven't played the game you don't have a right to slate it I say bollocks. That's the same trite and disingenuous argument that you can't criticise something unless you have done it as well. Guess we can't frown upon dictators, murderers, rapists, etc. unless we've done those things too, eh? See the problem with that line of so-called "reasoning"? Had you stated it differently along the lines of this: "If you haven't played the game your critique may well lack fully accurate details supported by first person experience," then you'd be on to something but not having played the game does not remove any person's ability, nor right, to express an opinion about the game. OMG I am so looking forward to this, hopefully IW, really crank it up. COD4 had a shorter life than MOHAA/Cod & COD2 because of the 1/ heli & airstrike cr.a.p 2/ boring auto weapons suitable for the short attention span of american 10 yr olds (sniper doesn't count) 2A/ needs an ordinary single shot rifle for gamesmanship even if it is modern w/f 3/ still the same old hacking mofo's: PB is for noobs only. 4/ poor server side mods - why couldn't we get rid of airstrikes, helicopters etc. 4/ needs bigger maps and spots that DON'T have easy defeat by anyone. To defend a spot is also part of the game. cod 4 was my best game ever / after goldeneye which had held that spot for a long time, never have i played a game so addicitve
if they had of released regular updates like them seem to for halo then it would have been the biggest game in 2009 also
i also like cod 5 but after playing that for a while and then going back to no 4 i realised how much more in depth number4 really is
all they have to do is more of the same, add a little new magic and it will be amazing, and i cant wait. I think they should leave game as is. Just add a longer story line (4 was a little to short). Since gaz, cpt. Price all died in 4 they shuld have soap now b cpt n have him command the squad. At the same time they should add like flash backs in which he has like missions that weren't on 4 and some from 4 that would be the s*!t. Seriously!!! As for online they should let u create your own character n b able 2 promote with the ranking as in private 1st. class n your last name and so on........ Can hardly wait It would cool if you can literally destroy bulidings call in airsrtikes (storymode) shoot through walls n have n e 1 noticed that in cod4 when u call in the helicopter u either see or hear it shoot missiles (I have) and I've never seen it hit any1 they just shoot just cuz. If you want to listen to rubbish then play it through your consoles media player. i think waw is good and modern warfare was good too but i think in the new game they shud bring out new stuff to do in the single player missions and the online multiplayer i like the fact that waw had nazi zombies when u complete the game that was cool but they shud make more missions in the new one and have more stuff to do in the missions I completly dispise waw i think its the worst call of duty out of all of them, cod4 was the best and i am made up that its another modern one :). thank god its not sci-fi S**T!! Modern Warfare was epic, so i'm happy to see another one, especially if they can improve on the first.
For those upset by Acti's stance on only supporting good franchises, don't be. It's better to have them making top quality sequels, than making a couple of underrated epics than make them go under.
We all want a BG&E 2, but sequels aimed at the masses are better than nothing!
Looking forward to a new Ghost Recon, actually.. it'll be interesting to see where they go with that. They've done modern-Ghost Recon to the ground, it'll be nice to see them take it in a new direction. Maybe something even more futuristic...

now tht would be a gid game, would take a a long time to make like and a lot of thought , but spend a couple of year on it , whilst making a few more games, but making tht ur main project and bomb tht game will last for ages, and gee it regular updates tht u could charge for a fiver every time, or sutin really good updates changes to land etc , tht would be good

it was only a fail because Infinity Ward didn't make it. so they were disappointed and they made Modern Warfare into a branch. i just hope in MW2 they have something like Nazi Zombies. even tho some people thought it ruined CoD5. :) g2b honest rly cnt w8 for the game to be released, I gta agree tht they could of thought of a better name rather then "mw2".

"mariokart meets forza" sounds like a lego game haha nt good. I dont know about any of you but my friends and I were discusted at the tanks that featured so heavily in COD WAW. Ultimatley we resorted to only playing search and destroy because of the lack of vehicles. I have spoken to most of the people on my 360's friends list and most agree!!! My friends and I have decided that if modern warfare 2 has tanks we wont be buying it as they destroy the game play we so much enjoyed from COD4. I cant w8 for moder warfare 2, cod4 was the best by far to me, i liked the speed of the game and the guns and maps, dont get me wrong w@w isnt a bad game, infact its a pretty good game, but modern warfare to me is the better game of the cod franchise.
I wanna see new game types aswell as old, like manhunt:- u cud hav 1 man has to run and hide then the other team with about 5-6 people reaspawns about 30 seconds after and has to find him. If the running man survives for 10minutes he get 250 points and gets to hide again, but if someone kills him they get 100 points and then they become the hider in the next round.
It wud be good to make your own character aswell, so you dont all look the same, but you wear the same clothes that is given to you by that team. This is quite possibly the best idea I've ever read...
Is it my imagination or is this thread lacking a fair amount of literacy? I really struggled to even read some of the posts! It would be funny if they called it Call of Duty 5: modern warfare 2 just to show that they didnt believe CoD WaW was a good addition to the series. i really hope Soap is back. i think that in Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 we should be Soap and we will be the new Captain Price or the new Gaz :D :) :o :lol: 8) this is actually a really good idea. u should contact Infinity Ward and tell them about this idea. Thank god for that! In my opinion WaW was over hyped and overrated, still play CoD4 now over it. Dont get me wrong its not terrible but i expected a lot more due to how good Cod4 was. Personally i think some lessons should be learned, one of them being to stick with infinity ward and not treyarch in my opinion they have been the achilles heel of the whole franchise. Personally im very very excited about modern warfare 2 and the prospect of Infinity ward pushing those boundaries even furthur! On the point west ham sam raised i would love to see a few more game types but also a rainbow six style customisation option so you could kit your man out how you want him, calibre of weapons, camouflage, etc. Would also love to see a few more weapons as have been mentioned and something like a Steyr Aug, Famas or AR - 15 maybe even something like an automatic shotgun, jackhammer anyone?? Like the desert eagle in the last cod4 too but i would like a dirty big colt or magnum! Also would love to see the surroundings being a bit more destructable (a la ps2's Black) would be pretty sweet in multiplayer if you could use your surroundings as part of your tactics. In CoD we trust! :lol: |
