Noby Noby Boy is probably one of the weirdest games you will ever play. The game was released on PSN, and developed by Keita Takahashi. Many would remember him as the man who gave us Katamari Damancy. Believe me when I say this game makes Katamari look sane. The gameplay is as unconventional as it is odd. But it's also full of whimsy that can inspire childlike glee.

Certainly one of the most eagerly awaited games this year for the Wii is the return of the Punch-Out franchise. While the slated May 18th release date is still a few months off yet, Nintendo has been kind enough to share a press release revealing more details about what will be in store for those who are ready to step back into the ring one more time.

The press release talks more about how there will be both Motion Control and Classic Control play modes, so Wii users can try throwing punches at the screen or turn the remote sideways and relive the experience of playing the game just like they did on the NES all those years ago.

Star Punches make their return,  presumably as rewards for landing punches at the right time and giving you that extra burst of power when you have your enemies stunned for a big hit.

It also reveals more of the returning cast and in addition to Little Mac, Glass Joe and King Hippo, you will also find yourself touching gloves with the head-bobbing Von Kaiser and have Doc Louis back in your corner (no word on if you can make him restore some of your health between rounds though).

New character shots have also been released, as well as what looks to be the box art (shown above) and what may be the title screen image.

Full press release and images beyond the jump.

This past weekend I went and checked out WonderCon -- the local comic, movies and video game convention that's put together by the Comic Con people here in San Francisco. I went all three days and really had one of the best times I have ever had at a non-all gaming convention. There wasn't a huge gaming presence there; Capcom had playable Resident Evil 5, Street Fighter 4 and Bionic Commando systems there. EA was there with Nvidia showing off Nvidia's new Dual GeForce GTX 280s card that is compatible with Burnout Paradise and makes the game a 3D experience. Honestly, playing a videogame in 3D is very impressive for about 10 minutes, after that it just gives you a headache. In 3D there isn't much detail and it actually dumbs down the graphics by a lot. Cool in theory but not so much in practice. Also, Nintendo had a pretty cool set up for the new Fire Emblem.

Just a few days ago Marc Ecko Entertainment  and Showtime Networks announced that the Dexter iPhone game will be released sometime this summer rather than February as previously announced.

The iPhone game based on the Showtime TV show "Dexter" is written by the show's writer Timothy Schlattmann and will feature recorded dialogue from super-hottie Michael C. Hall *swoon*. According to the press release, the gameplay will feature "puzzle solving, stealth tactics, mini-games, and 'slashing' with the iPhone itself". Also we are told that the title "will be a mystery game emphasizing investigation and problem solving - the player will analyze crime scenes, uncover evidence, and choose which brand of justice best suits the situation: the courts or the “Dark Passenger” (Dexter's serial killer alter ego)".

The upcoming A Boy and His Blob game for the Wii has been kept somewhat low on the radar so far. Until now, all we've really known about it is that it exists and is coming out sometime this year.

As its nebulous date of release hopefully draws closer, however, we have been blessed with the first few screen shots of what some of the powers in the game are going to look like. Beyond the jump is a few examples of what will be the effects of certain jellybeans on your mailable companion.

On April 14th, Atlus will be releasing the classic-style dungeon crawler The Dark Spire. Yet it seems that evoking a classic-style of gameplay just wasn't enough for this game.

As you can see from the screen shots above, the game will be offering two modes of play. Modern Mode uses a more... well, modern art style, soundtrack and character art while Classic Mode gives you a wire frame display for the dungeon and makes use of 8-bit sprites for characters, as well as an 8-bit soundtrack to complete the nostalgic experience.

While I confess to not personally being that interested in dungeon crawler games, I am curious to see what those who are think of this, as well as what mode may be their preference.

Resident Evil 5. Friday the 13th. Horror. When thought of most people think of these items, it can bring up a bloody scene in their minds, but a bloody mess is not what Capcom has in mind this time. As a way to help give back to the community, Capcom is partnering up with the American Red Cross.  They will be coinciding a blood drive with the launch of Resident Evil 5 launch.

It is that time of year again…you know, that month where sleepless nights become commonplace, where chants in unison seem to echo through your mind everywhere you go, you check your blood pressure for fear of an unexpected heart attack might occur at any moment. We’re not talking about acid flashbacks here, but watch out for those; that stuff just chills in your spinal cord waiting to reappear during your cousin’s piano recital.

It’s March Madness! NCAA Men’s College Basketball’s National Championship Tournament for the layperson (a lose and go home playoff style tournament to decide the best team). That description may seem unnecessary but it spells out exactly what’s at stake for the hundreds of athletes that put their hearts, minds, and bodies on the line to take home the National Title and maybe impress a few NBA scouts along the way.
