Stylizing Brontë's broad strokes, the creators of this latest Wuthering Heights turn weak literature into muscular pop and contrive something perfectly suited to that very audience of Twilight-zoners.

Variety Brian Lowry
Writer Peter Bowker ("Blackpool") has widened the lens to include the characters' heirs, but the last hour of this 2½-hour production (presented in two unequal parts) lacks quite the wallop that part one delivers once it gets rolling.

I can't say this "Wuthering Heights" is a mess; it contains enough physical beauty and dramatic affect to sweep you along to the bitter end. You could do worse. But if you are craving an operatic story of love that couldn't survive earthly form, you'd be better off getting out your reading glasses.

In spite of a good deal of bodily contact, the sparks never really fly between Heathcliff and Cathy (Charlotte Riley), though they are both obviously hot. We take their passion as read, rather than felt.

No one could make any of this completely credible, but at least it could have had a passable shot with more directorial restraint on the part of Coky Giedroyc.

Cathy H gave it a10:
Thoroughly enjoyable, well cast and well acted for the most part, made me want to read the book again. Easily the best Wuthering Heights I'v seen, and the music - just perfect!

Michelle G gave it a10:
A sadness that critics of magazines couldn't find this more touching. Tom Hardy gives a darkly balanced rendition of Heathcliffe; the ensemble as well plays strongly.

Katie S gave it a10:
I loved this film.

Julie S. gave it a10:
I was introduced to the actor Tom Hardy and for that alone I would give it a 10. He was absolutely mesmerizing as Heathcliff. The entire show was fantastic and I hadn't even planned on watching.

Ethelyn W. gave it a6:
The uglist Heathcliff of them all, and i have seen many. The add-ons by the writer were obvious and overdone, and only made me want to go to bed. The joy of probing the character of each person was stolen from us by the over emphasis on every twist and turn. Dickensian/cruel/cold/ unfinished.

Sue M. gave it a10:
I've only seen part 1 so far, but from what I've seen of part 2 I can't imagine that I'd score this less.
