Entertainment Weekly Jessica Shaw
I'll admit, I was a wee bit worried after last season's annoying Georgina story line and relentless drama about the past that haunts Serena (Blake Lively). But fear not, groupies: Summer's been good to this Girl.

It knows exactly what it wants and needs its new hybrid product to be. The hockey fights video of teen romance drama.

This melodrama isn't high TV art, or even middling; but it's dishy, farcical, and funny, as the willowy Serena (Blake Lively) and her circle prey on one another.

We like to fantasize, every now and then, about rich people looking good while behaving badly. That kind of escapism will never go out of business, and Gossip Girl delivers it in of-the-moment fashion.

PopMatters Cynthia Fuchs
True, the episode threatened to jump the shark when it was revealed that James (Patrick Heusinger), the unsuspecting man Blair corralled to play of the part of her wonderful new boyfriend, had his own secret, ludicrous even by Gossip Girl standards. But in the coming episodes, Blair and Chuck retain their place as the series’ most exciting kids in turmoil, its salacious center.

Philadelphia Daily News Ellen Gray
I'm thinking most of these kids seem way too old to be headed back to high school from the Hamptons. It's not so much the actors--it is their characters, who've morphed over the summer into people whose world-weariness is palpable and their genuine problems so few that the writers needed to manufacture some truly outlandish ones to keep things interesting.

By the end of the third episode of the second season there have been multiple hookups and breakups, enough to make your head spin or bore you to tears. Alas, I found myself experiencing more of the latter.

[Anonymous] gave it a9:
Of course it is silly & superficial.. but it's perfect if you're looking for a distraction, and a pretty one at that.

Erik B. gave it a10:
It's so unrealistic and sexy.... that's why I love. F The Shield, this needs to be the top rated show for this season. Blair Waldorf FTW!

J P gave it an8:
This show is my guilty pleasure. It is like the 90210 of the 90s meets Dynasty and was transplanted into Manhattan's Upper East Side. I LOVE it!

Andrew L gave it a0:
This show is nothing but a bunch of bitches runing around having sex wtih every dude they can get their hands on. This is the biggest bunch of bull shit i've ever watched.

Liam G. gave it a10:
Fantastic season opener, and next weeks gets even better!

Marcelo A. gave it a10:
Even better than the first season! Perfection!

Jos M gave it a4:
It's hardly imaginable how The CW machine can still spin this trainwreck into a must see show. The OMFG/STFU campaign should convince you that this is the must see show when it's actually a must skip show.
