Nothing surprised me enough, while watching 90210, to blurt out, "Oh my God!" but hey, I'm not as easily surprised as a 15-year-old from Kansas.

It's not a great show but it's not a terrible teen drama, not by a long shot.

Neither trainwreck nor masterpiece, the new "90210" was exactly what nobody expected it would be: remarkably faithful in tone and spirit to the original adventures of Brandon, Brenda, Scott Scanlon and company.

The truth is it really isn't so horrible after all.

The show juggled a lot of storylines last night, maybe too many, but the vibe feels right. "90210" is not a disaster, and the CW can now officially let out a deep ... sigh ... of relief.

Where the original show used to be a leader, so far the spinoff is a follower.

Well, it wasn’t “Masterpiece Theatre,” and it wasn’t outright terrible.

For the most part, 90210 seems unsure what to do with the Gen-X demographic, fitting in an awkward assortment of teachers, guidance counselors, and big sisters alongside the kid stars.

Sticking absurdly close to the same formula as the original, down to the opening theme and the filming style, the new version lacks that same sense of wonder and awe that Beverly Hills decadence and excesses once held over viewers.

90210, the CW remake that premiered last night, is pretty bad.

It was simply a blah variation on "Beverly Hills, 90210," which lasted a decade on Fox.

The only time I laughed with pleasure last night--as opposed to hooting derision or abashed guffaws--was when Tabitha/Walter delivered the best line of the episode for anyone who loves L.A.: ''I'm gonna call Dan Tana's for some takeout!''

Joe G. gave it an8:
For a first episode it was quite surprising especially the openning scene at the school. Too many story lines but understandable. Great to see some familair faces and links to past - Hanna Zuckerman - Aaron Silver - I am anticipating more of the old gang with a strong edge for the new cast. The two Canadian actors were great!

Joshua C. gave it a10:
Love this show. I will not say better than original, but the entire series premiere was fantastics. It deserves a 10. Every single actor and actress was amazing, the reunion of Kelly and Brenda...FLAWLESS and who couldnt forget that Jessica Walters so funny. Overall great show.

Amanda A gave it a7:
Definitely better than I expected. It is somewhat cheesey but I was expecting that, the original had it's own amount of cheesiness. Better than some of the other teen dramas I have tried to watch.

Ray Y. gave it a1:
The ONLY good part of the show was Brenda.

C.B. gave it a6:
Not horrible, but certainly not something I would watch again.

Marisella A gave it a0:
Brings nothing new to the table of teen drama.

Jeff G. gave it a9:
Don't care much for teen drama but great acting here.
