Official Nintendo Magazine UK
A clever puzzler. [Christmas 2008, p.99]
83
Games Master UK
Tranquil puzzle-platforming that's ideal for filling five minutes. [Christmas 2008, p.84]

n-Revolution Magazine UK
Docomodake is a title well worth having in your collection, because apart from the brain-damaging tunes, you’ll find little wrong with this fun little platformer.

Brevity is pretty much the only complaint we can level at the game. [Dec 2008, p.81]

WonderwallWeb
An addictive title that is let down by a very easy difficulty setting and a bit too short with no replay-ability.

Taking on the overcrowded puzzle genre is never easy, but Docomodake succeeds by being both original and charming. [Dec 2008, p.127]

It's only really the brevity and ease of Boing! Docomodake that prevents it from scoring more highly.

VideoGamer
An imaginative, slightly quirky platform puzzler which will be great for the kids but doesn't hold a whole lot of challenge for adult gamers.

If you’re after a game to play on the way to work, or when you have a spare few minutes, then this could be a worthy purchase.

Boing! Docomodake is a difficult game to gauge. At times it can be painfully frustrating - with some puzzles requiring a complete level-restart if failed initially – and it’s criminal just how short it is. But on the contrary, Boing! is filled with intuitive puzzles, a genuinely creative control scheme, and some truly amusing moments.

Boing! Docomodake DS is a solid puzzle/platforming title which has just been let down by the fact it’s painfully short. With a great premise and a good grading system, it keeps the player's interest for a decent amount of time; however, without an online multiplayer mode or a longer single player, it’s ultimately let itself down. That being said, it’s a great title and is well worth getting for puzzle/platforming fans.

Edge Magazine
There are some gently taxing puzzles here, and just enough variety to keep the game ticking along, but the real surprise is just how winsome Docomodake’s fungi are, each section ending with a guilelessly warm celebration of family values. [Mar 2009, p.95]

Nintendo Power
The action does get a bit repetitive after a while, but this is still an enjoyable adventure. [Mar 2009, p.89]

Jolt Online Gaming UK
This is not a bad diversion for a few hours, but Boing! Docomodake feels like a very short game that could actually have done with exploiting its unique features further. In conclusion, there is still mush-room for improvement.

Boing! Docomodake is a simple game with classic values but a little far of the actual philosophy. Thanks to the clever and funny use of the stylus, the game will be more interesting for players.

Boing! Docomodake DS manages to make the player think, but is unable to be captivating, diverse or ingenious.

Boing! Docomodake is a weird game. It’s both original and imaginative, but also sloppy and lacking polish. The underlying concept of a transforming mushroom is fine, the puzzles are fun, and the platforming action is decent and challenging, but the overall presentation and control scheme are way below average, making Boing! Docomodake a mediocre game at best.

Boing! Docomodake DS is the developer's attempt at emulating the gameplay of LocoRoco on the DS but it fails in the most crucial areas - level design, length and aesthetics - all of which LocoRoco excelled at.

Boing! Docomodake has a very interesting concept. On paper that is. Too bad that the idea doesn't make a good game. The game itself lacks liveliness and creativeness and does an absolute minimum of what you expect. Sometimes you do have the think about a solution, but most of the time you'll instantely know what to do without even blinking your eyes.
