About Us

What and who we are.

Here at Green Pixels we love playing games, and we want to share that love of games with a wider audience. We know we are far from alone in feeling this way because more people are playing games than ever before -- this is no longer just a past-time for adolescent(-acting) boys and basement-dwelling social outcasts. Think of us as your geek-chic friend, who tells you about what's actually fun to play rather than just spouting a list of technical features about the latest releases. We've also got all the advice and information you need to get the most from the stuff you already own, whether it's making personalized greeting cards in Spore, streaming music from your PC to your console, or creating your own songs in Guitar Hero: World Tour. If you like enjoying your gaming entertainment more than you like analyzing it, then this is the site
for you.

Who We Are

Editor-in-chief Dana Jongewaard has worked for several gaming publications, including Computer Gaming World, Official U.S. PlayStation Magazine, and GameTap, and has written for publications including CNN.com, Gamasutra, 1UP.com, Electronic Gaming Monthly, PSM, and PC Gamer. She still swears the best preparation she ever had for writing about the video game industry was her two years of teaching junior high.

Editor Amanda Ochsner got started in the videogame industry as a co-host of Evil Avatar Radio in 2006. She graduated from college in the spring of 2008 from the University of Minnesota, Morris with a BA in English. Amanda considers herself pretty lucky, as she upgraded from Minnesota snow to California sun and from paying to read and write about books in college to being paid to play and write about games in this place they call the ‘’real world.’’

Contributor Emma Boyes got paid for her first printed newspaper article when she was 13 and met her favorite pop star by pretending to be a journalist. She just finished a two year stint at GameSpot UK, having along the way worked as a video game tester in Japan, and also lived in Australia, France and Germany. Sometimes she wakes up and can't remember what continent she's in.

Contributor Jessica Chobot works as IGN.com's on-camera hostess. Since taking that position, Jessica has drowned herself in a sea of geek/nerd culture and loves to talk about it, when she isn't playing, that is. Jessica LOVES her job but has quickly realized that being involved with the industry means even less time to play the games she so dearly loves. She says that 99.9% of her life is spent in airplanes and airports.

Contributor Elisa Di Fiore was born and raised in Southern Italy in a family that strongly believed girls should not be interested in video games. After graduating with a degree in foreign literature, she moved to Rome, and proved her family wrong by becoming the first female game journalist in Italy. Now she lives in San Francisco and divides her time between writing about games, cooking, and listening to her mother rave about how much she loves her new DS.

Contributor Andrew Hayward hails from the windiest of U.S. cities, Chicago, and has written for numerous outlets, including 1UP, Electronic Gaming Monthly, Official Xbox Magazine, PlayStation: The Official Magazine, and What They Play. He lives with his lovely lady, their two cats (Taz and Einstein), and an ever-growing stack of games (the pile of shame) he hasn't had time to play.

Contributor Nathan Meunier worked for years as a newspaper reporter covering the "real" world, before finally cutting loose and diving headlong into writing gigs better suited to satiate his long-running addiction that stems back to the days of the Atari 2600. His work has appeared in The Escapist, Cheat Code Central, Giant Realm, and Pop Matters, among other gaming sites.

Contributor Joe Rybicki is a freelance writer, musician, and geek living near Cleveland, Ohio. He spent nearly a decade at The Official U.S. PlayStation Magazine before becoming a rogue agent, a young loner on a crusade to champion the cause of the innocent in a world of criminals who operate above the law.

Contributor Nicole Tanner has contributed to numerous gaming outlets including GameNOW, Electronic Gaming Monthly, GMR, and GameGal.com. She tried doing PR for awhile, but realized she just didn't like sucking up to journalists. So she decided to go back to being a journalist, so other people can suck up to her.
