I simply can't stop and it's just the demo. Fans of Quake 3 DM (who isn't?) will be very happy about the changes to UT3. I know here at the LAN peoples want to play TF2 and other gaymes, but I just keep leaning for more more more UT3.
First things first, people have not gotten thinner at Gencon. It's a myth.
Secondly, got to play Crysis and Starcraft 2. Both are looking good, but Starcraft is a long long way off (as in Spring of 08 at the earliest). The doods manning the booth mentioned that the unit list for the game wasn't even solidified, yet there it was with Protoss walkers burning everything in sight (only to be obliterated by a single flying unit).
Crysis, for all it's nano-suit trappings, was just more Farcry. I don't think it will have the WOW factor the original one did, but will it be the best single player FPS for the next 2-3 years? Absolutely. Multiplayer was highly addictive and crazy without the pointless slop of gravity gun dominated Half-life 2 multiplayer.
As for the non-electronic games, my favorite find of the con was a 20$ reprint of Condotiere by Fantasy Flight. It's a solid bidding game with beautiful artwork and great bluffing.
I didn't win the Shadowfist tournament, which I expected; having played only about 5 times in the last 6 months, but a Wisconsonite did win and proved that Char is still all the Architects really need.
Amazingly after 11 years, expansion number thirteen for Shadowfist has shipped.

I was able to finally get close to the house that blew up down the street a couple weeks ago and holy shit it's amazing only the unlucky person inside was killed, what with it being about 11;15 or so on a Saturday with snot-nosed kids running around and people out mowing their lawns.

Rumor is the Starcraft game in question is an MMO which is probably the LAST thing anyone wants out of the Starcraft franchise except Blizzard, as it means big money. In any case, the official announcement will be hard on the heels of the new World of Warcraft Credit card, not that WOW players spend any money as they never leave the house.

Sensless showed up to play in the second half of the HD United vs the 'the big goalie with the texas shirt who got heckled so bad by sideline drunks that he made fun of our rainbow unicorn diamond sword shirts' team and managed to pull his hamstring within two minutes of subbing in for yours truly as left full, yet survived a 2 hour practice game intact the week before. Looks like Square is getting back on the horse after a long, dire spate of the barely interactive movies that make up the Final Fantasy series after FFVI with Final Fantasy Tactics A2. Ain't much info out there yet, but with this and card fighters clash, the DS was the right choice in the handheld wars.
Knights of the Nine, the first expansion to Oblivion has shipped to retailers across the globe. Unlike Oblivion, that had just a touch at the end by Duvall in terms of QA, Knights of the Nine has quest designs by the man himself, meaning he's shipped his first gaming product with his own content up inside.

For those of you who can't find much reason to live after the finale of Rome last night, I highly recommend the 1976 masterpiece theatre adaption of Robert Graves' I, Claudius. It happens about a decade after the events depicted in Rome, so some of the characters are still alive.

Well it wasn't "the worst blizzard Wisconsin has ever seen" like they were hyping on TV to keep people tuned in for the commercials, but fucking hell that was some heavy ass snow and after yesterday's drop, there was no place to put it. Where is that HEAT MISER cunt when you need him?
The change in name is not without a change in focus for the game either. Apparently there will be a much more extensive multiplayer aspect with a move away from the Sport style of the games earlier this decade.
I for one just want it to be the best goddamn multiplayer Deathmatch game there is after the abject failures in this area from id and Raven. Where is American McGee when you need him?
Rackham as released the AT-43 advanced ruleset as a PDF that allows play with Operation Damocles using the full monty and not a stripped down set of rules that makes the children's game--Heroscape--look complicated.

Solid info on Crysis. Some gameplay vids as tight as a twelve year old
elbow injury. I am going to watch only one vid per month as not to ruin the surprise too much, and to try to keep at least a small amount of giz inside my ballsaque. Looking like Q3 for this one, right smack in the middle of July if there's any anal justice in the warld.
Jan 12-14th at Mouth's place. Have installed and patched UT2004, Farcry, Warcraft 3 and of course, Diablo 2 Zyel.
Review by yours truly of Company of Heroes as well as a run down on what was hot and not in 2006 gaymes. The game of the year is, of course, Oblivion. Nothing else even came close.
