Get psyched, because it's the most exciting time of the year. No, not summer. And we don't mean the Olympics. Or the Major League Baseball All-Star Game. Or the release of The Dark Knight. No, obviously we're talking about the upcoming announcements by the Democratic and Republican parties revealing who their Vice Presidential Candidates are. Break out the kegs!

Now, we're particularly excited here because if there's one thing we love, it's a good sidekick. Sure, Vice President Cheney may or may not be the devil, and, yes, former Vice President "Cactus Jack" Garner once described the office as being "not worth a bucket of warm piss". But while the Vice President may be superfluous in a strictly governmental sense, in an ornamental way, he's vital, because every alpha dog needs a good sidekick.

With this in mind, we've decided to pay homage to some of our favorite sidekicks both past and present. And, since we're a bunch of television fanatics, we've decided to restrict our choices to the TV realm only. So put on your donkey hat and your flag pin, strike up the band and settle in for our list of the Top Television Sidekicks.
