Top Title Wins

Sure, wrestling plotlines go all over the place to provide motivation for grown men to roll around in tights, trying to pin each other to the ground for three seconds. There's the old "you insulted my manhood" storyline; the "you took my girlfriend/urn/bulldog Matilda" storyline; the "you spilled coffee on me, reminding me of the incident from my childhood in which my brother set me and our parents on fire" storyline. But no plotline will resonate as strongly without a championship title at stake. A title win cements a plotline or feud into the history of the title, and is brought up in the minds of the fans years later when they see another guy wearing the storied belt. When a title switches hands, it's like New Year's Day or a new TV season for a wrestling federation. The belt and the championship it represents are set up for another few weeks or months of plotlines with a new champion in place. In honor of CM Punk's sudden victory over Edge for the World Heavyweight Championship on June 30th, 2008, we offer up to you some of our favorite title wins of all time.
