Director, Online Marketing

Job Responsibilities Include:

  • Meet and exceed monthly traffic targets for UGO Entertainment's Owned & Operated properties (O&Os);
  • Leverage Omniture Web analytics data to maximize performance of all UGO content and marketing efforts and report performance to executives at UGO and Hearst Interactive Media;
  • Attract and retain new users by forging marketing partnerships with heavily trafficked third parties;
  • Manage a focused team of online marketing managers;
  • Manage, enhance and optimize existing SEO, SEM, and in-network promotional programs;
  • Develop online buzz marketing programs within prominent social networks and among communities of entertainment blogs and websites;
  • Collaborate with VP, Editorial to promote timely features and other exclusive UGO content on a day-to-day basis;
  • Assist Campaign Ops in driving traffic to sponsored O&O content;
  • Oversight and optimization of 1UP.com content syndication programs;
  • Oversight and optimization of email newsletter programs;
  • Develop new features on O&O properties that will increase loyalty, engagement and overall network traffic.
  • Liaise with community manager at 1UP.com

Skills:

  • 5 - 7 years of online marketing experience. 3+ years of management experience.
  • Ideal candidate will have experience in Entertainment, Games, and/or Web 2.0.
  • Expertise in SEO tactics, SEM campaign management, and Web Analytics, ideally, Omniture.
  • Ability to draw on Rolodex to build traffic driving relationships with prominent online media players.
  • Strong Excel and Powerpoint skills.
  • Excellent communication and relationship skills.
  • Well developed ability to multi-task and prioritize.
  • BS or BA degree.

Freelance Camera Operator

We're currently seeking an experienced Freelance Camera Operator to work with our Video Department and be responsible for the shooting of UGO video content for the web. This position's core responsibility will be to shoot video features, as well as coordinating external freelance shoots when necessary. This person should possess a variety of video production skills, have great communication abilities, be organized and have a love for all things entertainment related.

Job Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • This position is responsible for assisting the UGO's video department in shooting various content, promotional videos, and live events.
  • Responsible for providing camera (beta, SD) lighting and sound equipment for all projects.
  • Ability to deliver final projects in requested formats by the deadlines provided.
  • Ability to (if necessary) work closely with producer and various members of UGO.
  • Oversee the operating and maintaining of cameras and audio equipment.
  • Responsible for providing and setting up camera and audio equipment
  • Collaborate with producers to maintain consistent look and feel for the assigned project
  • Responsible for fulfilling company requests for content requested delivery formats based on deadlines provided

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Familiarity with video, and sound formats
  • Ability to distinguish subtle differences in audio and video quality
  • Must be willing to work long days and to travel locally if necessary
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work in both team and solo environments
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to take direction
  • Excellent time-management skills in a deadline-driven environment
  • Camera and Audio operation experience a plus
  • Studio production experience a plus

Editorial Internship

We're currently seeking an intern to join our Editorial team on the frontlines of fantasy entertainment. This is a great opportunity for an entry-level team player, looking for the opportunity to learn and grow within a fast paced and fun editorial environment.

Job Responsibilities Include:

  • Assist in producing and publishing daily editorials.
  • Copy editing various written drafts before production, checking for grammar, spelling, punctuation, syntax and adherence to house style.
  • Work Crop, re-size and touch up images used within daily publishing cycle and editorial features.
  • Support Editorial department in building editorial and features on UGO.

Skills:

  • Internet and computer savvy.
  • Familiarity with HTM, Photoshop, Microsoft Word on PC and the Internet at large.

Other Ways to Get Your Foot in the Door:

  • Be Internet savvy
  • Have some knowledge of XML and Web production
  • Previous media business experience or experience with web publishingsystems

Enjoy designing websites with Photoshop and Flash? Need a full-time job? Then we want you!

We're currently seeking a Freelance Web Designer who enjoys pushing the limits of their craft in a fast-paced environment. You'll be designing websites and other compelling, unique, interactive and entertaining web activities for UGO's Editorial department. You'll work with a team of artists and developers, designing and breathing life into interactive designs. We want you to be highly motivated with tenacity for innovative visual design.

Your skills:

  • Proficient in Photoshop
  • Proficient in Flash Animation (motion design and illustration)
  • Typography - we want you to be able to make full web designs with the letter "D"
  • Actionscript
  • Illustrator
  • HTML
  • CSS
  • Ability to communicate with Art Directors and Production Managers
  • Ability and desire to learn new processes and technology
  • Ability to work in a Windows/PC environment - we love Macs, but we're a Windows based office
  • Knowledge of ASP to plug designs into

It would be cool if you:

  • Like to sketch, draw, illustrate and are good at it
  • Dabble with Javascript to make annoying applications on your personal websites to show off to your friends
  • Are heavy into sci-fi
  • Have 3D experience in modeling, animation and/or texture mapping
