New Barriers broken by Eve Online

“Due in large to the Alliance Tournament VI finale this weekend, the PCU (Peak Concurrent User) record was broken the third time this year with 51,675 pilots logging in to the single-shard world that is EVE Online. That’s well above the previous record of 48,065 and signifies the largest PCU jump we’ve ever had to break the 50k milestone.

In addition, recent goings on between major player Alliances, a vengeance-fueled assassination during last weekend’s Tournament rounds and general excitement about the impending release of EVE Online: Apocrypha have all combined to energize just about everyone--players, the CCP Dev Team, media and people who have never even encountered EVE before but are now quite curious.

Like always the true credit goes to you, the players, who give EVE the unmeasurable depth that makes it unique. Thank you.”

For those of you who haven’t noticed, I have been playing quite a bit more of EVE…

EQ Login Down

The login servers for EQ have experienced an problem.  We hope to have the issue resolved as soon as possible but currently do not have an ETA.

In addition, the Antonius Bayle just went down.  The server is back up but due to the login in issue, customers cannot log on to that server until the login issues are corrected.

Tournament Elimination in EVE

First Day of Elimination Rounds Concludes

The first 16 elimination rounds of the 6th Alliance Tournament are complete.

Every match was action filled and ran the gamut from complete domination down to at least one match called for time and winner decided by points.

Today’s matches highlighted the creativity and sheer guesswork that goes into some fleet decisions, as well as the pitfalls of over anticipating your opponent. Probable Cause’s odd fielding of seven Osprey Navy Issues highlighted this as team contact badass2k6 explained: “our set up was to combat [Pandemic Legion] Ishtars and unfortunately they left them at home”. In fact, Pandemic Legion actually brought five Caracal Navy Issues and three Drakes as part of their fleet.

When was the last time you reviewed EVE? Before the Quantum Rise expansion? After 10 free expansions and 6 years of continuous growth the game has changed quite a lot.
