Paying tribute to Iceland's finest

BjorkpostStereogum has posted a cool tribute to Bjork's Post, similar to what the site has done with Radiohead's OK Computer and R.E.M.'s Automatic for the People.

Go here to experience Enjoyed: A Tribute to Bjork's Post. The track-by-track tribute includes Bjork covers by Liars, Xiu Xiu, Atlas Sound, Dirty Projectors and other indie outfits. Each song contains liner notes, and Bjork herself even chats about the classic album, which was released in 1995.

Reminiscing aside, Bjork is still making art worth talking about; her latest video for Wanderlust popped up online today.

The best moments of 'Battlestar'

Pop reader/awesome blogger Rachel just sent me a list of her "43 Favorite BSG Moments of All Time." (Rachel also makes those crazy Lost recaps we love so much.) Yes, you can expect several Battlestar Galactica links this week -- after all, Lost is on hiatus and this is the show's long-awaited final season.

Her list includes several classics, such as:

Gaius- The time Baltar uttered the line, "No more Mr. Nice Gaius!" Ha! "I am always amazed at how Gaius is often the villain and comic relief, all at the same time," she writes. In Friday's season premiere (Sci Fi Channel, 10 ET), this is more apparent than ever -- in fact, I dare say Gaius outshines every other character. (Ooh, wait a second. Did I just reveal that I've already seen the season premiere?)

- Kara and Lee's boxing match. I remember when this ep aired, some fans absolutely hated it. I, on the other hand, kept Unfinished Business on my DVR for many, many months. It's one of my favorite episodes. Sweaty Starbuck rules.

- Tigh says farewell to Ellen. Sure, nobody liked Ellen very much to begin with, but how crazy was that episode? Tigh is hardcore, and I can't wait to see what he's capable of this season.

- The "reveal" in the third-season finale. It's still hard to believe those four are really Cylons ... and if you don't know what I'm talking about, go rent the DVDs.

Trump doesn't own everything -- yet

In case you're keeping track of April Fool's Day pranks, here's an early one played by Time Out Chicago:

"Donald Trump is on the cover," writes Pop reader Rachel, aka wildhoney269. "The letter from the editor in the beginning of the issue mentions that Trump has become the majority owner (of TOC). Many of our hearts sank when reading this, because we love our edgy and honest magazine. There is also a letter from Donald Trump himself, but upon reading that we all became a bit suspicious." Here's the letter, if you'd like to see for yourself.

Rachel continues, "As I turned to page 14, I noticed a review of the restaurant Sixteen. This is the new restaurant which just opened in Trump Tower. It got 11 stars -- but wait, Time Out usually grades on a six-star sale."

She says she then realized the whole thing was a joke. Unfortunately, Crain's Business did not -- last week the publication took a press release about Trump's acquisition seriously. Oops.

A Beastie chronicles kids' hoop dreams

The Beastie Boys' Adam Yauch (MCA) is working on a new project that may surprise some fans: In June, Yauch makes his feature-film directing debut with Gunnin' For That #1 Spot, a documentary about the nation's top high-school basketball players.

The movie blends footage of young players with hip-hop and jazz beats, and you can see a short preview on YouTube. Yauch writes on the Beasties' blog that you should check Oscilloscope's site for updates.

Gunnin' opens June 27 and features NCAA All-Americans Michael Beasley and Kevin Love, among others.

LOL at your fave TV shows

If you're a fan of LOLcats/I Can Has Cheezburger?, then you may get a kick out of the Lost version, LOLLost. Says Pop reader Joe T.: "I can't wait to see a version of Michael yelling, 'Waaaaltzzz!'"

My friend Amanda also sent me LOL-Word, a version that uses characters from The L Word. I'm sure a many more TV-related sites have popped up (has anyone created LOLBSG yet?), so if you spot any funny ones, let us know.

Sorry, there's no beer on the moon

Companies have attempted countless marketing schemes, but have you ever heard of "moonvertising"? Pop reader YourPalJoeyJoJo explains:

"As I walked the streets of NYC Saturday, I saw a billboard for what looked like Rolling Rock beer with simply the words 'moonvertising.com.' I went to the site, and apparently they are attempting to broadcast a beacon (a la the Bat-Signal) on the moon to advertise Rolling Rock. ... Users can log on and enter in a virtual moonvertisement and share with friends as well as download a funny PDF explaining their process."

Now, before you head to the website to plan for the next moon viewing, take note: "Moonvertising" is a hoax. Coca-Cola actually attempted this in 1999, but the FAA wouldn't allow it. Rolling Rock's website is just a clever way to get people to (maybe) notice the beer brand and gaze at the full moon.

Apparently, some people looked for the ad during the company's last "attempt" March 21. What they got was an early April Fool's joke.

The fur flies on Animal Planet

I can't decide if Animal Planet's Groomer Has It is flat-out ridiculous or will be the greatest reality series ever made. You must watch this video preview, because it's almost too crazy to be believed.

Says Pop reader Mary T.: "I literally thought it was a joke. I had to look it up on Animal Planet's website, and it is a real show! It is (unintentionally) the funniest thing I've seen all week."

Queer Eye's Jai Rodriguez hosts the dramatic competition, which sets out to find the top dog groomer. The short clip is chock full of quotables, from "I wanna win so bad, I can taste it on my palette!" to "When he was sniffin' dogs butts, I thought that was kind of unprofessional." Wow.

Groomer Has It premieres April 12.

Pop forum: Talk amongst yourselves

Today's reader is a frequent commenter and a big Lost fan -- get to know her, then make yourself comfortable in the forum, where others will be discussing pop culture throughout the day:

Reader of the day: Chickie

CandychickieReal name: Anne (or Annie)
Why I chose my screen name: It's just a little term of endearment I like. I am always calling everyone "honey" or "sweetie" -- I know it's not "P.C.," but I can't stop!
Where I live: Elkhart, Ind.
Occupation: I am a buyer for a large composites company. I buy things that are processed and sold.

People say I resemble: Everyone. I have one of "those" faces. I have had people insist I am someone I am not. I get everything from Jackie Kennedy to Fred Mertz. And everyone went to school with someone who is my twin.

Best concert experience: Grateful Dead, Alpine Valley, 1986. It was two days of music and conversation -- both of which pointed me in the right direction. Back in those Gordon Gecko days, I could have turned out so much differently. But after some fun in the sun, some Hare Krishna stir fry and Sugar Magnolia, I sort of changed how I reacted to a lot of things.

Early buzz: Fake drugs, 'Fanboys,' 'Aqua Teen,' and more

Good morning! I hope you had an excellent weekend -- I listened to lots of music, caught up with friends and ate delicious brunches, though I didn't read nearly as many comics as I'd hoped. (Isn't that always the case?)

- And finally, Slate offers an April Fools' Day defense kit, so you won't be "taken for a sucker by the media."

The Candy mailbag: Answering your questions

Aggh, where did the day go? I have a ton of reader questions, but I don't have a lot of time to answer them. Let me get to a few and finish this up next week when I'm in town and 100% yours:

I am wondering if there was or will ever be an explanation of Papi's whereabouts on The L Word. I wasn't really attached to the character, but I am easily annoyed by inconsistencies in the canon of any show or series. I can't imagine why they wouldn't include some backstory to where she ended up, since Tasha was introduced to Alice because of Papi. -- Damian B.

I feel your pain, even though I didn't care much about Papi, either! I contacted Showtime, and a spokeswoman got back to me with this:

"The creator of the series, Ilene Chaiken, attended a Q&A session at UCLA recently and someone actually asked her that very same question. Below is the transcription response:

'Television happened to Papi. We have a big ensemble cast. Sometimes characters don’t work as well as others. We tried something with Papi. I know that lots of people really liked her and a lot of people weren’t getting it, weren’t with it. We had to trim in order to make room for new stories that we wanted to tell in the fifth season. We had to make choices. We knew, something’s gotta give here. And Papi gave.'"

I know it's probably not the explanation you were looking for, but I hope it's enough to get you through the night ...

Are you aware of a site that provides "Where are they now?" updates on former reality TV stars? I often wonder how someone's career and/or life has changed after being on shows such as Top Chef, Project Runway, Next Top Model, etc. -- Kathleen, aka BearCat5

I don't know of a one-stop shopping for "Where are they now?" updates, but it sounds like you just need to add a few reality blogs to your favorites. (By the way, here are some updates on Runway/Top Chef folks.) My favorite is Reality Blurred, which is updated every day. There's also Reality TV World for quick links.
