Hair-metal paradise

Ryan Adams has listed his top five hair-metal songs on MySpace, and, being the wimpy, new wave-y girl that I am, I don't think I recognize a single one! The list:

1. Don't Close Your Eyes, Kix
2. Fly to the Angels, Slaughter
3. Dream Warriors, Dokken
4. Love Kills, Vinnie Vincent Invasion
5. Over the Mountain, Ozzy Osbourne

Fans left their own favorites in the comments, from Iron Maiden to Skid Row. I had no idea Ryan was such a metalhead.

Please give Pam a raise

Ever wonder how much your favorite TV characters might take home in the real world? According to this story, Pam from The Office would be making about $23K a year, while Boston Legal's Denny Crane would be raking in $210,000.

As an owner of a construction company, According to Jim's Jim would make around $73,000. And Dr. Meredith Grey? She's a surgical resident, so her salary would only be about $37,000.

This is what I did during lunchtime

CelebrityMustache.com: So simple, yet so satisfying. (Paula Abdul looks great with a handlebar.)

Thanks to Danny B. for hours of mindless amusement.

One more 'Star Wars' link ...

You thought I was done with Star Wars for the week? Not so fast! Adult Swim has launched a new site for Robot Chicken: Star Wars that includes the Boba Fett trailer I saw at last weekend's convention, a clip with George Lucas (yes, that's his real voice), production photos and more.

The 30-minute special airs June 17, and I'm so excited I could kiss a Wookiee.

A hands-on 'CSI' experience

Hey, CSI fans: Did you know an exhibit dedicated to the show just opened at Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry? Pop reader Maggie D. shares her thoughts on "CSI: The Experience":

"I just saw the exhibit, and it's pretty cool. There's three different crimes to solve, complete with individual crime scenes, labs and even (an) autopsy room. Plus, all the actors from the original CSI do all sorts of video throughout the exhibit. My favorite things were the miniature crime scenes from this past season and the pretty authentic reproduction of Gil Grissom's office. It's worth checking out."

The Chicago Sun-Times talked to cast members about the project, which Robert David Hall says "isn't about getting more viewers: it's about teaching." Here's the exhibit's official site for more info and a closer look.

Cool movie alert: 'Paprika'

Forget Shrek and Ratatouille -- an awesome-looking animated film is on its way into theaters, and no meddlesome kids will be allowed inside.

Paprika, a mind-bending work of Japanese anime, is getting rave reviews and is already playing in New York. "It happens to be one of the most wildly (and disturbingly) inventive animated films I've seen, but will anyone notice?" says Newsweek reviewer David Ansen. The R-rated flick follows a psychotherapist who is able to enter her patients' dreams. Says the New Yorker's David Denby: "It’s a Freudian-Jungian-Felliniesque sci-fi thriller, and an outright challenge to American viewers, who may, in the face of its whirligig complexity, feel almost pea-brained."

Go here to watch the surreal trailer, and listen to several songs from the soundtrack on this page. You can also get more updates on MySpace. Thanks to Pablo A. for the tip.

Early buzz: Vegetarians, Ditto, Hepburn's duds and more

Good morning! I'm still recovering from a late night of ping-pong (I guess I was inspired by Hurley), so forgive me if I just jump straight to the headlines:

- Here's a first look at the car in the live-action Speed Racer movie.

- Slate looks at the strange success of the USA Network.

- PETA has launched its annual search for the World's Sexiest Vegetarian.

- The new issue of NME features The Gossip's Beth Ditto on the cover.

4400_2- Here's a look at what we can expect from the new season of The 4400.

- Yep, David Hyde Pierce is gay.

- A dress worn by Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's has sold for $192,000.

- Say what you like about Vincent Gallo, but his house is amazing.

- I have a hard time imagining the First Lady at a performance of Grey Gardens.

- An 18-year-old singing waitress is about to get very, very lucky.

- Don't get your hopes up for Sin City 2.

- Special Topics in Calamity Physics is being turned into a movie.

- I thought this list of "7 Reasons Why Rosie Had to Leave The View" was interesting.

- Michael Jackson has bought the rights to songs in Eminem's back catalogue.

- And finally, Kristen Bell in a bikini. That's all I'm saying.

Tunes for that long journey

The Village Voice delivers a good road-trip playlist that includes Sleater-Kinney, Band of Horses, Marvin Gaye and Chemical Brothers. It reminds me of the good run I had on my iPod during my flight home ... I didn't write down all of the tracks, but I remember they included:

- Guided by Voices, The Best of Jill Hives

- Brian Eno, Baby's On Fire

- Stars, Ageless Beauty

- The Smiths, A Rush and a Push and The Land Is Ours

- The Beatles, I'm Looking Through You

- Liz Phair, Nashville

- Modest Mouse, Never Ending Math Equation

It was like the perfect flying music! I love it when my technology seems to read my mind.

Chiseled chests meet hairy 'staches

What happens when the bloody battle cries of 300 mix with the stunning visuals of Will Ferrell and friends in Anchorman? Believe it or not, the two go together surprisingly well. Thanks to Pop reader Steve P. for the afternoon pick-me-up. You can go here to watch the Anchorman fight scene with its original audio.

'Lost' in a flash: The top 20 finale comments

I know you waited a week for these, but isn't it worth it?

Because the Lost finale was two hours, I've compiled the top 20 comments instead of 10. They're listed in no particular order and unedited, and, obviously, tons more observations can be found in this massive discussion thread.

Thanks to all of you for making these discussions so lively and thought-provoking each Thursday. Enjoy the final batch:

Walt was a manifestation of Jacob, telling Locke to pick up where Ben has failed.

Naiomi's boat of people will be the new bad guys as they don't want people off the island for whatever makes the island special.

Ben is in the casket.

Sayid did some awesome neck snapping however unbelievable it might have looked.

the rest of The Others team up with the Losties.

The series finale will be Hurley saving everybody by playing ping-pong against Jacob.

Holy Schnikes!!! What a show. I think the lady Jack saved was Julliete's sister. That was her kid that had aged 5 years.

How many lives does Mikhail have?

I don't believe Jack's father is alive.

Did anyone other than me catch Ben's slip? He told Jack that, if he calls the ship, "Every LIVING person on this island will be killed." Anyone but me think that the "living" was injected purposly? Especially with all of the info lately about no survivors from the flight...wow!
