Let's talk 'Lost': Feb. 28 episode

Hurley_1Papa Cheech! Headless Roger! A bus full of beer! What did you think of Lost's Hurley-centric episode? Head to the comments section to share your thoughts, clues and questions.

As always, try to keep up with previous posts so you don't duplicate what others have said. If you reveal spoilers for upcoming eps, warn us, and please be respectful of fellow commenters.

See you later ...

I regret to inform you that I'm about to head into a three-hour meeting. (Believe me, it will hurt me more than it will hurt you!) Because of this, my posts will be temporarily suspended, but Pop reader Clay D. did send me this clip of Jamie Kennedy breakdancing for his new movie, Kickin' It Old Skool. Wish me luck, and I'll see you if and when I return.

Stiles behind the camera

What has Julia Stiles been up to since that awful remake of The Omen? The actress has just finished directing her first short feature, Raving, which stars Zooey Deschanel and Bill Irwin. The movie may have the worst tagline ever ("Sometimes, a change of dress can change your life"), but I liked the trailer, especially since it showcased Zooey's lovely singing voice.

Raving was inspired by a feature in Elle magazine and premieres on the Sundance Channel May 8. Later this year, Stiles returns to acting with The Bourne Ultimatum.

Hugh in handcuffs

While I was out of town, some of you told me the story about a Dutch TV reporter handcuffing herself to Hugh Grant at the Amsterdam premiere of Music & Lyrics. The woman, 22-year-old Cielke Sijben, remained attached to the actor for about 10 minutes before firefighters freed him. The whole thing was captured on YouTube. Grant remained calm throughout the incident, and Sijben was reportedly taken into custody.

Pop Candy on PBS?

Pop reader Andrew J. e-mailed me this morning to say he saw this blog on TV last night. "PBS has a fascinating four-part look at the news called News War on Frontline," he said. "Well, last night during Part 3, they did a section on blogs, and in a blindingly fast montage of blog examples, there was Pop Candy!"

You can watch the entire show online at PBS' website -- if you do happen to spot the Candy, let us know which section of Part 3 it's featured in. (The shout-out aside, it looks like a pretty interesting special.)

Update: Pop reader FriarGirl03 says you can find the screenshot in Chapter 13. Cool!

Where's Mr. Peanut?

Here's a list so odd you have to read it: "Top 10 Ads with People Dressed Up as Food." I'm on board with the Snapple and Fruit of the Loom guys, but the Fudgems mascot just creeps me out. Thanks to Pop reader Tim N. for the tip.

Angelina talks Darfur

There's an article in today's Washington Post written by Angelina Jolie. The dateline is Bahai, Chad, and it begins with this line: "Here, at this refugee camp on the border of Sudan, nothing separates us from Darfur but a small stretch of desert and a line on a map." The piece goes on to address the violence in Darfur and her recent travels. Brad's name doesn't appear.

Early buzz: A 'Smart' movie, 'Zodiac,' more

Morning, all -- I can't really talk about last night's TV because I was locked out of my apartment until 12:30 a.m. Yeah, it was a rough night. If I didn't have a three-hour meeting this afternoon, I'd seriously consider taking a mental-health day.

Enjoy these headlines while I blow-dry my hair:

- Steve Carell, Anne Hathaway and Alan Arkin are teaming up for a big-screen version of Get Smart.

- We have a few stories about Lost today (including a sidebar about upcoming flashbacks), so check that out when you get a chance.

- The Onion A.V. Club has an interview with Heroes' Greg Grunberg.

- Reports of Ace Frehley's death have been greatly exaggerated.

- Yahoo has posted exclusive clips from Zodiac.

- Jump the Shark has gotten a new redesign.

- Now that Morrissey is out, maybe that guy from The Darkness will participate in the Eurovision song contest.

- A new version of the documentary Don't Look Back paints a more playful portrait of Bob Dylan.

- Eddie Murphy's rep insists he didn't leave the Oscars early because he was upset that he lost.

- Salon.com has posted an interview and podcast with Black Snake Moan director Craig Brewer.

- Janet Jackson has signed on for Tyler Perry's next movie.

- And finally, can you match the troublemaking star to the problem that got them kicked out of school? Take this quiz.

Who's your mancrush?

I just spent an embarrassing amount of time on Mancrush.com, a site that ranks users' crushes on male celebrities. Right now Jon Stewart occupies the top spot, though Stephen Colbert isn't far behind at No. 6. Some surprising choices include Charles Darwin at No. 7, Jesus only seven notches above Bruce Campbell at No. 13 and Keyser Soze at No. 541.

The best movie monologues

Pop reader Brett H. sent me a link to this list of the "top 10 greatest film speeches and monologues," which is accompanied by video clips of each scene. The list hits some good moments -- Jack Nicholson in A Few Good Men, Marlon Brando in On the Waterfront -- but it misses a bunch, including Gregory Peck in To Kill a Mockingbird, Vivien Leigh in Gone with the Wind and that Kleenex-required funeral scene in Four Weddings and a Funeral.

My favorite film speech? Hands down, that would have to be this one from Steve Martin.
