Presenting a movie like “High School Musical 3: Senior Year”
to film critics is a bizarre situation. Let’s be real here:
nobody who wants to see the feature will care what other people think
about it, and most strangers to the “HSM” franchise
wouldn’t be caught dead watching it. It’s an either ya do
or ya don’t proposition.... continue
Like any improbable sequel, “Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa”
is a more potent creation when acting as a carefree joke blender than
a believable sample of storytelling. As good-naturedly hilarious as
the 2005 original film, the sequel suffers only in the freshness
department, with filmmakers who really show lackluster confidence on
where to take this unexpected franchise. It’s a fine family
diversion, but it fails to improve on its predecessor, and there’s
something mildly disappointing in that missed opportunity.... continue
"Body of Lies" is an intelligent geopolitical thriller
that ostensibly is about the hunt in the Mideast for a terrorist
leader, but is really about the manipulation of people like chess
pieces on a worldwide board.
“Quarantine” is one of those movies you know is going
to scare you silly but you can’t stay away. You are drawn to it
even as you are repelled by it. And yes it does scare you silly, but

My beloved readers, this is why they call it “star power.”
A shameless, sentimental, sudsy soap opera, “Nights in
Rodanthe” is kept animated by the superior work of the cast,
who take the surface mentality of the source material and make it a
deeply felt, agreeably tragic romantic experience. “Rodanthe”
is obvious, but it’s very effective.... continue

“Fireproof” is the latest film from the people who
created both “Flywheel” and “Facing
the Giants.” The makers of these movies are the staff and
congregation of the Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, Georgia. The
masterminds behind the scenes are the Kendricks Brothers, Stephen and
Alex. They have been called the Christian Coen Brothers and based on... continue
Batman is back in The Dark Knight. There have been several
renditions of the Caped Crusader over the years, in this sequel we
again get the very dark version of Batman the we got to know in... continue
I suppose it was bound to happen sometime, and I guess I should be
glad it took 14 years to arrive, but
Kevin Smith’s “Zack
and Miri Make a Porno” is a disappointment. It’s not an
unpleasant film, more of a blown opportunity (no pun intended), and... continue
Two years have passed at Shenaniganz and the restaurant is dealing with stiff competition from the new Ta-Ta’s Wing Shack next door. All the “best” waitresses have bolted to the wing joint where the clothes are shorter and the tips bigger. Unfortunately, the customers are following too. The heat is on the Shenaniganz team to smash the competition, lift their numbers and their hemlines in an effort to remind the public who’s got the tastiest fast food in town. If they don’t succeed, it may be curtains for their restaurant.... continue
