Mayor Bloomberg and Parks Commissioner Benepe Announce MulchFest 2009 Will Be Held This Weekend
Mayor Bloomberg and Parks & Recreation Commissioner Benepe today announced the 13th annual MulchFest, a citywide event where New Yorkers can recycle their Christmas trees by converting them into wood chips. This year, Parks & Recreation has designated 89 recycling sites to accept trees throughout the five boroughs on Saturday, January 10, and Sunday, January 11, between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. At many of the tree drop-off locations, chippers will be on hand and residents will be able to take home mulch for their own gardens and plants.

New City Clerk's Office and Marriage Bureau Opens for Business on January 12
The City announced that a new Office of the City Clerk, home of the Manhattan Marriage Bureau, will open for business on January 12, 2009. The new facility, at 141 Worth Street is part of a complete physical and operational overhaul of how New Yorkers and visitors receive marriage licenses and other documents. The new marriage bureau replaces the facility currently in use at One Centre Street.

Mayor Bloomberg and DOT Commissioner Sadik-Khan
Detail City's Winter Pothole Blitz
Mayor Bloomberg and Department of Transportation (DOT) Commissioner Janette
Sadik-Khan announced today that pothole-filling season is in full swing
citywide. With extreme winter weather impacting the City's more than 6,000
miles of streets, pothole season kicked off last month, and on any day up
to 40 DOT crews are fanned out across the five boroughs filling potholes.

Mayor Bloomberg and NYC & Company Announce
That New York City Achieved Record High Visitors and Visitor Spending in
2008
Mayor Bloomberg, Deputy Mayor for Economic Development Lieber, and NYC & Company
CEO George announced today that New York City attracted an estimated 47
million visitors and $30 billion in total spending in 2008, both record
highs. The latest tourism numbers surpass the 46 million visitors and $28.9
billion New York City attracted in 2007.

Mayor Bloomberg Presents $59.1 Billion
FY 2009 Executive Budget
Mayor Bloomberg today announced his Fiscal Year (FY) 2009 Executive Budget
and presented an updated four-year financial plan for New York City. The
$59.1 billion budget maintains the City's firm financial footing in the
near term by reining in expenditures across the city, with city-funded
spending expected to only grow by 0.1 percent.

Accountability Report
Mayor Bloomberg today released his third Campaign Accountability Report,
showing that nearly a year and a half after Election Day 2005, 96% of the
100 campaign promises the Mayor made during the 2005 campaign have either
been fully implemented or are currently being implemented.
