Tour of California: Where Pedal And Mettle MeetStage 2 map and full race scheduleFriday, February 13, 2009 On Saturday, the world's top cyclists converge for the 2009 Amgen Tour of California, a 750-mile race from Sacramento to Escondido. Among them will be seven-time Tour de France champ Lance Armstrong. He races for the first time in the U.S. since emerging from retirement. Floyd Landis, who was stripped of his 2006 Tour de France title, and two-time defending race champ Levi Leipheimer also prepare to ride. Stage 2 kicks off Monday with a noncompetitive ride from Spinnaker Drive in Sausalito, across the Golden Gate Bridge and to Kobbe Ave. in San Francisco, where the actual race begins. From there cyclists will head down the coast, do a loop in the mountains of San Mateo County and go on to Santa Cruz.
