Degree Programs and Accreditations
The New York State Department of Education approves all academic programs and degrees that the University of Rochester awards. Throughout the year, institutional statistics are also sent to the Department of Education for the tracking of student enrollment, retention, and graduation rates, among other things.
Departments and programs wishing to change the name of a current program or degree, or who wish to develop a new program, must obtain approval of the Office of the Provost after completing the required New York State forms. Questions about this process should be directed to (for PhD programs), or to (for all other programs).
