Film Independent Spirit Award Winners


Inside the crowded white tent on the beach in Santa Monica, The Wrestler dominated at the Film Independent Spirit Awards on Saturday afternoon, scooping up three awards including Best Feature, Best Male Lead for Mickey Rourke and Best Cinematography for Maryse Alberti. Milk made a strong showing as well, winning awards for Best First Screenplay Dustin Lance Black and Best Actor for James Franco. In between musical sing-a-longs and an appearance by "Christian Bale" and "Joaquin Phoenix", the cast of Synecdoche, New York received the Robert Altman Award and In Search of a Midnight Kiss won the John Cassavetes Award.
